    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

I've not used that on HD700, but I actually find the HD600 headband pad to be a better fit on HD700 than genuine HD700 headband pads and would recommend them. They are cheaper, too, IIRC.

Very easy to work with and considerate, too. I would happily work with iano again. Enjoy the amp!

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

So I recently cut my hair for the first time in well over a decade, and I've been getting a much better seal out of my Reference Gold than I ever did before. The sound with just a better head seal has had me feeling like I've been rediscovering this headphone all over again a first time, despite...

Feedback by 'trollchu' on listing 'Westinghouse 6EW7 Matched Pair NOS Tubes'

I bought these for my McChanson amp; they are a wonderful set of tubes, and an absolute steal at $20. It was a pleasure doing business with JayDM, I could even argue that our transaction was as smooth as the sound of these tubes. Thanks again, JayDM!

I adore Lambda, and I agree it's a pretty great amp. If someone wanted to dive into e-stats inexpensively, this would make for a wonderful starting point as normal bias e-stats are still quite tasteful despite their age. I remember when I first bought HE-1000 V2 and got them playing in my...

This is a listing for the Massdrop Cavalli Liquid Carbon X. I originally bought this amp new alongside the Cavalli Tube Hybrid, however, out of box, I vastly preferred the CTH to the LCX, and this unit quickly became lightly used. The duo were my first full-sized amplifiers, however...

This is a listing for a Stax SRM-1 Mark 1 optimized solely for normal bias Stax. This unit was a pair to my SR-Lambda, however, I scarcely use it. I happen to also own an SR-5NB and the matching SRD-6/SB and have always preferred to drive my Lambda and SR-5 via speaker amplifier. My use of the...

This is a listing for an older Quad ERA-1, a 20 ohm, 94 decibel, planar. I had little luck in finding a replacement for the headband, it's crackled a lot over time, and so there is a black cotton wrap included with the headphone. The hybrid pads are starting to show their age as well, but the...

    Sennheiser HD250 Linear Impressions Micro-Thread

If you're still getting equal sound out of both drivers, it doesn't sound like a defect. You probably just need to replace the internal foam. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/wow-sennheiser-hd-540-reference-are-so-good.670255/post-17120466

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

Got the idea to look up the manual from the post above and it actually suggests a damp cloth with a gentle agent for the rigid plastic components. Since it'd be practical to assume Sennheiser probably didn't intend users to take the headphone apart for cleaning, I'm going to assume hand soap and...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/150891/Sennheiser-Ovation-Ii-Hd-560.html I know these, I have one on my Linear I. While a good option, as I really have cleaned every other part of it, I would prefer having a way to clean it. I happen to also enjoy the sight of this headband and how it...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

Although I'm still fighting to get the eighties stink out of the gold mesh, I've cleaned my Reference Gold pretty thoroughly inside and out over the years I've owned it, but the topside of the headband I guess I've always kept well dusted and have actually never touched. A finger test says it's...

That website is a database featuring many different established brands, I believe you should just need to hit the index button near the bottom of that previous link. It is a goldmine of information. http://20cheaddatebase.web.fc2.com/sitemap.html Sennheiser native, with the rings, not to my...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

Yes, also, save the pads if you can, if you're handy with a needle and thread, you can always refoam them, but that said, others in this thread could give you better pointers on doing that than me. You will need to remove the rings to attach new pads, iirc, any 100mm pad will fit it except stock...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

Yes, and the pad should work fine. I actually rolled a lot of pads with that model when restoring mine and found I generally prefered various velour pads with that headphone. If I had to recommend one randomly, it'd be hifiman velours, they round out and soften with age and work very well well...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

That failed V6, those have lifetime warranties, if you have not already, it may be worth it to reach out to Burson about that. While the build of Reference Gold is somewhat different, the Reference Gold should use an identical driver to the Reference One. If you end up with issues in matching...

    Kinki Studio Vision THR-1

I find it to be stellar as a preamp, it's very fast and dynamic with very low hitting bass. It makes for a wonderful pairing with fast speakers like Triangles or Focals. For noise, I have an iSINE 20 and a full size 20 ohm planar, they pick up no noise, a Ps500e, again, no noise, my 35ohm...

As an owner of the model that directly succeeds these, I couldn't justify it, but these are pretty cool to see anyway, GLWS. Hopefully, this rare gem finds a loving home soon.

Massdrop x Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid Amp (CTH) - Dropping Monday

Yes, my intention was to color the sound, preferably with an octal and to add an analogue EQ. I don't usually use EQ, but I've been playing around adding a bass boost from 55 to 220 hertz. It's been pretty satisfying alongside the strong mids of a Raytheon I've rolled in, I got the idea that an...
