Quote: Of all the DAPs/PMPs I've owned (iPod, Cowon X5, etc.) the Teclast is by far the warmest-charging. BY FAR. And that's just by finger-touch of this unit's rear exterior panel. From my experience with repairing Cowons and iPods, I know that the devices' interiors -- especially around...

Speaking of batt. charging ... I find the batt/charge level "meter" on the Teclast/S:Flo2 extremely inaccurate. On several occasions, I've had 4 bars one minute and the piece o' junk cut out 30 sec later for "low batt." (can't recall the exact message text; it's the one you get before this...

Quote: Here in Russia, a company with such horrid QC and CS problems as Teclast/MP4Nation, would never survive -- literally --  unless they never sold locally (i.e, non-Russia sales only). I'm sure many of you've have heard of our local mafias -- poor QC and CS is not tolerated. I won't...

Quote: Can't really compare to laptops and PCs -- they are heatsinked and fan-cooled. And, yes, folks heat (generated mostly during charging) is an important issue for iPhones, PDA and DAPs/PMPs. Speaking of Apple (iPods) and battery heat ... Apple themselves note: "Heat will degrade...

Quote: Poor heat-sinking and thermal management is NEVER "normal". Indeed all that cookin' may be a big part of the fact that so many of us have reported failure.   My S:Flo2 was mailed out yesterday ...based on what debitsohn/others report, it's most-likely on a one-way trip to HK.  ...

Quote: You must either work for or are somehow a "stakeholder" in Teclast and/or its ancillary companies. "Better" advice -- if you've got the $$ and you're really into DAPs/PMPs -- would be to get a second unit from QLS. They don't (yet) do FLAC, nor do they have a touchscreen, video...

Quote: I haven't been thru all the feedback and postings on what most often fails with Teclast/MP4Nation devices. So what is that (or, to be plural, what are they)? Is it a specific IC component? Or a system or sub-system (e.g. power regulator, chg ckt, batt)? Frankly, folks, the...

Quote: Well, mine worked perfectly for almost 3mos, and failed surprisingly and catastrophically (all-of-a-sudden, w/o warning). In comparison, my Cowon X5s are also very unreliable but they don't (for me, anyway) fail catastrophically (their Toshiba HDs are extremely robust for one thing)...

Quote: "beyond their control"?! There is simply no excuse for poor customer service, regardless of OEM. MP4Nation sells a lot of units, no doubt. And given the amount of problems and failures I've thus far read about (wish I had done my homework on this issue back in July as I would NEVER...

Quote: And yet  Mp4Nation/TecLast product-owners know how often MP4Nation sends them (us!!) spam emails about their latest deals! I get at least three emails/ week from them about some offer. So where are they getting the parts for these in-stock items, while our in-service units are put in...

Quote: I've tried every iteration of the power-up "process". Besides, and as I noted in my orig. post, it's not just power-up ... the unit also does not respond to its USB/power port -- either connected to a computer or the wall-wart pwr adapter it comes with. Something catestrophic...

Looks like I have no choice but to send the S:Flo2 back for repair (it's still under warranty). Questions ... How long does this take  ... i.e., the whole turnaround time? I've read a few accounts that I may be waiting months. Is this true? I'm not sure it's cost-effective for MP4Nation...

My 3-month-old S:flo2 has stopped working: will not turn on, respond to charger, or to USB port. I purchased my S:flo2 in late July 2010 and have used it gently almost every day since. What is the battery voltage across the "terminals" (black, red wires) SUPPOSED to be with the wires connected...
