The Stax Thread III
I have a weird problem with imbalance, seems to be a bit different from what other people experience. So I've purchased used Stax SR-5 with SRD-6/SB adaptor, and when I first plugged everything in, the left speaker was like 10x quieter than the right one. By that time, both headphones and...- penartur

SONY NWZ-A10 Series
Just got myself brand new NWZ-A17 for $130. Everything's fine so far. I would say that's a bargain (considering that NW-A847 cost me $400-$500 back in its day).- penartur

Sorry for bumping the old thread, but can anyone share the instruction for AMP3? It is no longer available on hisoundaudio website, as they completely reworked said website about a year ago.- penartur

Sony Sound (Is it better than Apple's?)
Quote: They are the same sonically (except for volume cap on european models), but in Japan there is 64GB NW-A847, and european models AFAIK go only as high as 32GB.- penartur

No 120gb+ mp3 players compatible with mac other than ipod?
Microsoft released some "Zune connector for Mac" recently... however, i'm not sure whether it is compatible with 120 or with HD only. In theory, there should not be any difference between 120 and HD connectivity, but you'd better check it with google. Or you can always upgrade some...- penartur

Sony Sound (Is it better than Apple's?)
I enjoyed my NW-HD5, NWZ-X1060 and NW-A847 (btw, why aren't you looking at japanese high-capacity A84* series?) And ipod video (5th gen, rockbox, lossless) sounded like... well, there was some sound.- penartur

MP3 Players at CES 2011
Quote: If only this stuff would have been available outside of Japan... i can't even use browser on my DoCoMo phone, not to mention apps... However, as a camera it is definitely not worse than an average cheap dedicated camera; and such an integration doesn't seem to affect DSLR...- penartur

A new high end player: Colorfly
Quote: Not Russians at all, but single man (like Vinnie does his mod for ipod). As opposed to iMod (which has the single circuit changed), such a cowon mod features completely new circuit board in addition to stock one; iirc that extra board features DAC, amplifier etc. That's why such...- penartur

iPod Classic alternates?

what the difference between Audio-technica ATH-CM700 BW and ATH-CM700Ti
Quote: Maybe because of this: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22732 ? It seems that E888 are just slightly better than MX500 i had some years ago. And CM700 are incomparably better than MX500, they are from different league.- penartur

what the difference between Audio-technica ATH-CM700 BW and ATH-CM700Ti

Different encoder same bitrate does it make a different to sound?
Quote: LAME is considered the gold standard between MP3 encoders. If the OP was saying about WMA encoder, then things are becoming more complicated. PS: I'm not an audiophile, but i hear the difference between lossless and MP3 (even if it is 320kbps) on the most of my CDs.- penartur

what the difference between Audio-technica ATH-CM700 BW and ATH-CM700Ti
