THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
For me, "regret" isn't the right word. I understand why I made just about every decision I made along my audio journey, and I'm happy with the decisions I've made. That doesn't mean that I don't sometime miss the Aeolus...- jinxy245

I'd recommend getting ears on an ETA Mini-C. Not quite in the same league as far as detail retrieval, but tonaly a really good headphone with a lot to offer. Relatively inexpensive too, at least in comparison to the above headphones.- jinxy245

If you're curious about jazz, here's something I found to be really interesting. This is a good group of musicians turning a Nirvana classic into a jazz tune. Personally I love it, I hope you dig it too.- jinxy245

I haven't looked in quite a while, but I remember one of the advertisers on Inner Fidelity was "The Cable Company". They had (and I think still have) a headphone lending library, but I believe they lend other equipment as well. IIRC you pay for shipping plus a 10% fee to borrow, and that fee...- jinxy245

I had one in for demo for a couple of weeks, and from y experience I'd say you are indeed on the right track here. No metallic timber to my ears, though I do imagine chain would play a part here (I'm not familiar with the RME ADI-2-DAC nor the Burson Conductor, and OTL would be hit or miss with...- jinxy245

That's a tough one for me since I go through phases, but I'll throw a couple out there off the top of my head (and in no particular order). Regina Spektor Vanessa Carlton Jade Bird ZZ Ward Stevie Nicks (Solo & Fleetwood Mac) Tori Amos if Tori you have to include Kate Bush Bjork Adel Celene Dion...- jinxy245

The closest I could come to that scenario is when I was lucky enough to see Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan at Madison Square Garden. I had heard of SRV before, but hadn't heard his music until that night. I couldn't honestly say I enjoyed him more than Jeff, but he definitely blew me away...- jinxy245

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
No IIRC the Bopp mesh was prone to occasionally catching on the pads and or making crinkling sounds with head movement. Little uneven edges and whatnot, @zach915m didn't feel it was the best material to continue with. The current solid mesh is a different material.- jinxy245

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
IIRC the OG Aeolus had a "Bopp" mesh which is different from the current type, but for the life of me I don't remember if it was closed or perforated. @zach915m would obviously know better. I'm pretty sure it was perforated.- jinxy245

I've had and enjoyed this amp for many years now, it's solid & still sounds awesome. I'm selling to fund something a bit more awesome-er (not sure if it's going to be the Mjolnir 3 or the ZMF Aegis. Eventually it'll be both I think). 2nd owner (I think) this was originally purchased from an old...- jinxy245
