SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A
Late to jump on board the 1Z bandwagon and I have question for those that have paired it with the Shure KSE1500. Can I and if so should I use a 4.4mm balanced to 3.5mm analog interconnect between the 1Z and the KSE? I appreciate any help and pardon me if this question has been asked and...- spook76

You know I never thought of it like that but you are absolutely right. I have stuck with my iPod Touch 6th/Chord Mojo feeding my Shure KSE1500 for 20 months because as I write this I am still utterly mesmerized by the sound. When I want to change the sound I just change the application.- spook76

I think the consensus, if there is one, is either NePLAYER or KaiserTone. I have used both for years now and at this point would give the nod to KaiserTone. The key is system synergy so try both and see what you like the best.- spook76

If anyone is interested in RPI, Rock Progressivo Italiano, there is no better place to start than Premiata Forneria Marconi' or PFM's 'Per un Amico' widely considered if not the best ever RPI album certainly in the top 3. I cannot recommend them highly enough. -

I would definitely include 'Wind & Wuthering' and Steve Hackett's 'Voyage of the Acolyte' as the last great Genesis albums. 'Voyage' goes on because as you probably know both Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford played on Hackett's first solo album. For me all the Genesis albums from 'Trespass' to... -

Hehe thank you and of course teasing is not only allowed it is encouraged. Let us face facts progressive music fans are members of a small cult. Most music people hate our music. My sister and her family just got back from Sweden to visit her brother in law's family. I listed a bunch of great... -

I owe all here an apology. Steven Wilson's 'To The Bone' is not as bad as I thought and wrote. Also, I found a way to salvage a pretty decent Porcupine Tree album from it. If you delete songs 2-3 and 6-7 you are left with 7 songs and 46 minutes of Porcupine Tree lite music reminiscent of 'In... -

I feel your pain. I turned 50 last year and my brain turned to mush. As for 'The Incident' while I agree it is not one of the Tree's best remember it is a concept album and try listening without interruption from start to finish and it may come to you. Hell, it took me almost 40 years to "get"... -

While I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments, unfortunately, 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' would never get me there. I agree with Rick Wakeman that Tales was a disaster. Remember he spent the time in the studio when Jon Anderson was wanking in the other studio hanging out with Black... -
Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones
It is fortuitous for me you posted this as I am currently looking to upgrade from my Mojo/KSE combination and the two that interest me the most are the Sony WM1Z and the Hugo 2. On pure sonic performance how would you compare them and why do you prefer the Hugo 2. My thanks in advance.- spook76

For those looking for a truly beautiful album, try Quella Vecchia Locanda's self titled first album. From Wikipedia, "[a]ccording to an interview with Don V. Lax, the violin player of the first album, 'I would find some Bach or Brahms or Corelli and weave it into the music so we were making a... -

I may be brash but you are clearly illiterate. I already stated listen to what is regarded as the best live Porcupine Tree album 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here' and compare the vocals to the studio tracks. The only conclusion I could draw was massive use of autotune. -

Kopanedepooj I do not want to come down too harshly but after years of throughly enjoying every incarnation of Steven Wilson from No Man, Porcupine Tree and his solo work I recently discovered the emperor has no clothes. I bought what is considered the best live Porcupine Tree album, 'Arriving... -

I will not endlessly debate with you but please remember this is a thread dedicated to progressive rock and in no way shape or form is 'To The Bone' progressive. Further, comparing it to 'The Raven That Refused to Sing' a masterpiece of progressive music, is a joke. -
Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread
I am still sitting on the fence whether to upgrade from my KSE 1500/Mojo to the Hugo 2 and sacrifice portability for transportability. May I ask for a picture of the KSE 1500 energizer on top of the Hugo 2? My thanks in advance.- spook76

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones
I could not agree more. About 16 months ago on this thread I, in my ignorance, sang the praises of the Sensaphonics custom sleeves and assumed any and all would find them a vast improvement as I do. Thankfully more learned minds here corrected me that your personal in ear anatomy plays an...- spook76

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones
My experience with the Sensephonics custom sleeves is completely opposite of Michael's. To me they opened up the sound across the spectrum and I find them very comfortable. A great improvement from any universal tips. I like Maurice aka Moedawg would recommend the full sleeve and the smoke colored.- spook76

This is not a surprise at all. I think what Steven Wilson did not realize is as much as we progressive people hate to admit it takes a lot of talent to conquer two musical genres as Genesis did and not end up like Emerson Lake and Palmer's 'Love Beach' or 'To The Bone'.
