This is the legendary original Audio Technica AD2000 headphone not the newer X version. This has been out of production for a long time and is quite difficult to find. I bought it used here in Japan. I have only used it for about 5 hours but I dont know its usage history, its in great shape so...- Asahi Templar

Well based on the accidental update of the grado reviews page https://gradolabs.com/headphone-reviews ,they are intending to update the RS1e,RS2e,Ps500e,PS1000e, and GS1000e to x versions. The GS2000e seems to be left alone. The RS1e update is exciting as it will likely involve a update of the...- Asahi Templar

I would guess given the Hemps popularity and it bringing people to Grado who wouldnt have done so before, they will likely keep it around, probably in a slightly different version. That makes the most sense, change the design a bit so that people who got the limited edition version dont feel...- Asahi Templar

Some interesting impressions about the 325x so far, it sounds like perhaps it is a baby ps500e? As I understand it the ps500e was considerably bassier than other Grados, maybe that is the new plan is to have the metal Grado be the bass kings, while the plastic and wood remain more traditional...- Asahi Templar

Save BIG on our retuned AEON Flow Headphones; Only $499
The Aeon Open RT is amazing, incredible deal for 500 bucks. I dont know of anything else that sounds this good, is built this well and is this comfortable in the 500 dollars and under category. I actually had the Aeon Open 2 and I enjoy the RT more lol. The Open 2 was in every way better from a...- Asahi Templar

Save BIG on our retuned AEON Flow Headphones; Only $499
I have some Aeon Open RTs on the way and owned the Aeon Open 2 last year so I will try to compare them as best I can with the caveat that it will be the memory (and the EQ profile) of the Aeon 2 I am comparing to! Glad the Aeon got a positive review! Personally I am happy the Aeons have less...- Asahi Templar

Maybe some of the people with more Grados can correct me if I am wrong but I think there are at least 3 different types of drivers used by the current Gen of Grados. I think there is a 40mm driver used by the prestige series, a 44mm used by the RS2 and GH lines and a 50mm driver used by the high...- Asahi Templar

All of the Grados I have seen measured have a impedance spike somewhere in the bass, for instance the GH4 jumps to around 130ohms around 90-100hz. It is possible that this is causing the LG phones to see the Grados as high impedance headphones. With dynamic drivers the impedance often varies...- Asahi Templar

It is worth noting that hearing greatly varies between people and also age which makes a huge difference. You said you were in your 60s so you are most likely going to like more treble than someone in their 30s (like me) does. Actually Grados are really great for older people as the boosts in...- Asahi Templar

The GH4 has a narrow spike around 4.5-4.8k that is quite bothersome. Its not huge, but it can be very irritating as our ears are extremely sensitive there..and the attack of many instruments hits there. I just EQ it down by 2.5db and I am happy but I am guessing that is why many people dont like...- Asahi Templar

Got a chance to compare the Hemp, the GH3 and the GH4 today and it was quite interesting. The GH3 was clearly the worst of the 3 and I must admit I didnt care for them at all. They dont sound "bad" by any means but they other than the trademark 2.1k grado energy they were quite soft and dull...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Magni 3+ and Magni Heresy - Impressions Thread
That is not the correct adapter, I would recommend just returning it as I don't think that it outputting the correct voltage and the seller is liable if they did not inform you that the original adapter was included. Edit: originally thought it was outputting ac current because my brain...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
The Teac UD-301 has a switch on the back marked variable, fixed or off, if you select variable it acts as a preamp, if you select fixed it is just a line out, if you select off well...it turns off lol. So it depends on what the switch is set on rather its a line out or not. I doubt you would...- Asahi Templar

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers
Still loving my Aeon 2 Opens, I now have the Schiit Modius to go with my Asgard 3 and I can highly recommend this combo with the Aeon, its sublime. Very smooth, airy and detailed. Keeps the extra treble energy from murdering you, changes the stabby into airy :). The Aeon 2 open is a amazing...- Asahi Templar

Still greatly enjoy the Asgard and think its a great pairing with my Aeon 2 open! Now that I got my Aeon back from repairs and a Modius I spent some time trying out low gain vs high gain on the Asgard and I actually do notice a difference with the Aeon which is interesting because I didnt...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
Now that I have my Aeon 2 open back, my impressions of the Modius vs the G6 are mostly the same but I can refine them a little. The biggest difference and the one most people are going to notice (if they notice anything) is that vocals are much less in your face, G6 sounds shouty compared to...- Asahi Templar

You can try using a cheater plug (3 prong to 2 prong adapter) to see if it is indeed a ground loop. If the problem goes away with the adapter then you will have your answer.- Asahi Templar

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
The only inherently better things that balanced xlr outputs offer are the elimination of group loops and extra power over rca. Balanced doesn't necessarily offer better performance than single ended it depends on the dacs and amps being used. The thx 789 amp for instance is not a true...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
The THX 789 is a great amp, so I certainly wouldn't feel bad buying it :). I personally think the Schiit Asgard 3 and the THX 789 are the solid state kings atm(though I must admit that Geshelli labs Erish also looks real interesting!). There might be other ss amps out there that outperform them...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
You really need to get a amp for either the se or xlr outputs, the outputs are not intended for being directly connected to earphones, for one thing they have a output impedance of 75 ohms which is very high. Your iems frequency response will likely be heavily effected by this and sound quite...- Asahi Templar

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
No, I would not recommend doing this, you can actually damage your gear doing this and may compromise performance. You lose the benefits of xlr from doing it as well. Just use the se rca outs unless you have a balanced amp. No reason to spend money on something that has a good chance of being...- Asahi Templar

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers
I can't say for the closed backs but I wear glasses with the open backs it doesn't seem to make any difference. I tried them without it and couldn't hear any real change. My guess is that the earpads are sealing around the glasses as they get worn in but ymmv of course. There were some...- Asahi Templar
