iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
Thanks for the quick responses! Never knew anything about sensitivity and should be another audio topic I need to read about :) . I'll give the impedance adapter suggestion a try for sure and see if that solves the problem I'm having.- Doorknob

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
New owner of dx80 and am loving the sound. However in my unit I hear an audible hiss when music is playing and was wondering if this is typical for dx80. I just received the unit two days ago and so far haven't burned in the recommended 100 hours. The dx80 is completely silent when nothing...- Doorknob

$200 MP3 Player Suggestions
Didn't realize this forum section was available in looking for recommendations before I did so in the wrong section. Silly me :P Below is a copy of what was posted then. Any recommendations would be appreciated! I've been in possession of Cowon J3 for about 9 years. Unfortunately, the...- Doorknob

Looking for ~$200 MP3 Player Suggestions
I've been in possession of Cowon J3 for about 9 years. Unfortunately, the MP3 had an accident today where its glass screen cracked (still entirely functional though) and due to this I've been looking around to purchase a new MP3 with a budget of around $200. After searching a bit from the...- Doorknob

Official JVC HA-RX700 Owner's/Appreciation Thread-Only Unmodded Observations, Please!!!
I have a heavily modified version of RX700 (lots of dynamat, foam, felt with circle holes clipped off, and thinking of getting a recable because the connector thing is somewhat broken.) but yeah, I also noticed I have the weird sibilance problem with the cans. With a bit of EQ however, its good...- Doorknob

Upgrade Path from JVC HA-RX700, Gaming & Rock
On the comfort wise point, it is excellent. Unlike the RX700 where the plastic part always touched the tip of my ear (Slightly annoying) DX3 doesn't do any of that. Also, unlike the RX700 where you are likely to re-adjust everytime you put them on, DX3 requires you to only adjust them once and...- Doorknob

Upgrade Path from JVC HA-RX700, Gaming & Rock
Don't have the other two headphones, but I do own JVC modded RX900, modded RX700, and the DX3. Paired with my Compass the DX3 are in another league from RX700 altogether although I won't say much else since I'm still in the process of burning them in. After I believe they have been burned in...- Doorknob

JVC HA-DX3
I have just received my DX3 (while I was taking a nap and after hearing the delivery man just drop it in front the door) and started listening to it. Just for a couple few first impressions I am using Compass as a Amp/DAC, computer with Foobar as source, and am going to be comparing this with...- Doorknob

JVC HA-DX3
So from what I'm reading (and if I'm correct) it would be that DX-3 and D2000 are pretty much on the same league with the most prominent difference being the lower end bass. A pesky question, but which midrange do you prefer more between these two cans? Because better midrange is the deal killer...- Doorknob

JVC HA-DX3
Interesting. I have both the RX-700 and 900 (Both modded with felt cover removal, pulled out the holes, and dynamatted them for good extra measure) modded. Did you have them modded before-hand or were they simply fresh out of the box without any customizations? Either way, could you give a...- Doorknob

The Audio-gd Compass (Was: Designing an alternative to the Zero DAC/amp)
Having had the Compass for quite a while now and switching between a couple settings I think I have found what's the best setting for me via Foobar. By putting in nothing at all. No ASIO, no DSPs, nothing that alters the sound. This is on neutral setting with the Earth on. Odd as it sounds...- Doorknob

Good Video Making Software?
I have the audio program and the compressing + burning tool done. What I'm lacking so far is the graphics and the editing part of it. For the audio I'll probably go along with Audacity with recording and editing. On the graphical part I don't have much idea but for a freeware alternative I've...- Doorknob

Good Video Making Software?
I am planning to make a sort of a video in a 'Yahtzee' style (Not necessarily going for fast talking) where audio goes on and pictures change after a while. I'm new to anything on video making related, but so far am planning to make a seperate audio track with pictures going along with it and...- Doorknob

Cheap comfortable headphone for around $50?
Another for RX700. I would recommend doing the felt mod at the least even if you don't care about the sound as much because its easy and free. Also I found them to be quite comfortable even while wearing my glasses. Stuffy at times but not as much compared to the RX900. The cord on the RX700...- Doorknob

JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
After having the RX700 and RX900 for quite a while, I prefer the RX700 pads rather then the RX900 because they, after a long listening session, don't feel clammy and sweaty like the RX900. To each his own. Quote: Originally Posted by Panda` I have the RX700s. How do you clean the...- Doorknob

Non-abstract, no vocals
Instrumentals hmm? Not much of a brainer for me as that's what I listen to almost all of the time (about 98% of my collection is almost purely instrumental give or take a percent, can't stand most vocals). Only part I don't really get is abstract, but hell, here's some suggestions. Anyway... -
JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
I modded my RX700 yesterday (couldn't keep my itchy fingers from doing it in the name of better sound) with the dynamat and felt removal (Including going as far as taking out felt holes with scalpels). So far, I really haven't heard much difference except tighter bass. Having both the RX900...- Doorknob

Ever sold an expensive phone because you prefered a cheaper one?
I'm seriously considering to sell my A900 after taking a listen to much cheaper cans (RX700/900). One important thing audio taught me is that price brackets are really not a definitive measure of SQ. Not at all.- Doorknob

JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
Got my RX700 today. Just for some really quick first impression, wow, these things are incredibly good for their price. The only expensive cans I've bought is A900 (Have A900 and Modded RX900) and these out of the box easily and solidly beats those in SQ. I infact prefer my RX700/900 much...- Doorknob

What makes a good gaming can, movie can, and so on
I've been curious for a while about this. What exactly defines good movie cans, gaming cans, music cans, and the 'you just pop on cans at someone's head to annoy them' type of cans? I'm reading a sort of general trend that huge soundstage and bass are good for gaming, although I think it...- Doorknob

Most Comfortable Low-Impedance Cans Under $120
JVC RX900. Super comfortable (I tilt my pads counterclockwise about an hour) and with modding these cans are a beast. I easily prefer these over my way more expensive A900. You might not like its slightly recessed upper midrange and highs even after the mods, giving a sort of laidback sound...- Doorknob
