So I was thinking about selling out...I need some help.
So after spending a couple years here, countless hours reading and researching and soul searching and spending money...I have decided it's time to say hell with it all and sellout. I mean why not...many of the top people in headphones are doing it...it just seems like the thing to do. What I am...- Nubster

Soundcard vs DAC vs Amp (Suggestions?)
I could be totally wrong but it is my understanding, after reading something the other day on this subject, that even a higher end soundcard is subject to computer noise whereas an external DAC is much less likely to be affected by computer noise and even if it is, they generally have a much...- Nubster

post your grado mods....
I saw where he has an option to get the wooded chamber with a recable but it costs about $150 over the cost of the recable. I am hoping to just find someone to make the chamber that I can replace myself. I haven't really looked or asked around yet. I'll shoot him an email just to see. Worst that...- Nubster

The Official Grado 325i Owners Club.
That is exactly what I was going to make except I have some aluminum spacers used on r/c's. I will have to drill them out slightly then drill the hole for a set screw and thread it. But I might just grab those off the link...much easier even though i will have to wait a week. Oh, and...- Nubster

The Official Grado 325i Owners Club.
hmmm....well....it was going to be a screw through the plastic. I never even thought about doing the sleeve with a set screw. I like that idea better. I'll have to see what I can find in my box of r/c parts. ***Couple grub screws and I'm in business. Seems that a trip to the hardware...- Nubster

The Official Grado 325i Owners Club.
I know for sure that I am doing the screw mod probably tomorrow...the left assembly is so loose it won't even try to stay in place and I have to keep adjusting it...pretty annoying. I would send them back to get fixed but I don't think I can go weeks with my Grados plus I just sold my Beyers so...- Nubster

New headphones
The cord on my Grados is 7ft...not really that long though and you can always cut it down and add a new plug end if needed. The cord is pretty short compared to my Beyers...that one is 10ft. I just measured both so those numbers are accurate...lol Quote:- Nubster

Interest Check: Maryland/Jersey/Pennsylvania/Virginia Central East Coast Meetup?
Here is another place...it's a bit out of the way for many of you, but if anyone is in the area of Winchester, VA, may be worth checking out. The owner works out of his home and works by appointment so that he can give you full attention. Great guy. I just bought my SR325i's from him and it was...- Nubster

Headphone problem
What I read is that if your system is properly set up you should not have to eq. Keep in mind, that is just some regurgitation I read on a few places. So I guess the thing to do is figure out were the problem(s) lays. I am a complete newb to all this as well so not sure I can offer much help. Do...- Nubster

Which is better? Beyer Dynamic DT 770 vs Denon D2000?
I have the DT 770/80's and they are alright without an amp. With an amp they are much, much better. No experience with the Denons but it sounds like either route you take an amp will be highly suggested.- Nubster

Buying First Pair Of Legit Headphones
I think I would be too worried about my $300 headphones getting ripped off by some high school thugs. The other day I demoed some Etymotic ER-4's. They are IEM's but I found that they were very secure in my ears and the sound isolation was incredible. The store owner was standing <6 feet...- Nubster

Final Call For Help...
I can't comment on your list other than the Bose and Beats. The others I have no experience with. The Bose and Beats I have demoed and while the Bose sounded better to me than the Beats, neither are worth the price. IMO the Beats aren't worth anything. I would take them if given to me and I...- Nubster

My portable amp/dac hasn't budged in months, worth it to sell and get a desktop amp/dac?
My Little Dot 1+ is a Grado tamer and I think that is saying a lot. Also I have read a lot of people talking about the Beyer 770's being bright. Not once have I ever felt that they were bright while running through my LD. Not sure how much is the amp, how much is the tubes. I all I do know is it...- Nubster

Am I too mellow for the SR-325is?
This is terrible information. Grados respond extremely well to amping. I have the 325i's and I LOVE them, amped. Off my iPod/computer I can hardly stand them. If you want to tame the brightness and really get the most from them I feel they do extremely well with a tube amp or a hybrid amp. See...- Nubster

Final Call For Help...
Even at discount I would stay away from these. I really, really like my Beyerdynamic DT 770/80 Pros for really good bass and plenty of it and they will completely DESTROY anything with Dr. Dre's name on it. At 80 ohm they are not too hard to power and sound pretty good off the computer/iPod. Of...- Nubster

Buying First Pair Of Legit Headphones
If you are looking for great sound I wouldn't worry about the looks too much because some of the really good sounding headphones are not necessarily the best looking. You want style, go grab some Beats or Skullcandy and fit in with the rest of the herd.- Nubster

DR DRE STUDIO BEATS . GOOD OR NOT?
I love my Grados but I don't think I would recommend them for someone that listens to bass. I think you will be disappointed by the lack of boomy bass. I really like my Beyerdynamic 770/80 Pro's for the fantastic bass they have but they lack in the midrange which for the music I like doesn't...- Nubster

Woodied Grados that don't fit quite right? How to make them fit?
I have kinda the same issue with my 325's...bottom of the cup feels like it needs to be pressed against my ears more. I have not tried bending my band yet but will probably mess with it this weekend. Check this link, scroll down close to the bottom...this is what I am going to try. ...- Nubster
