Thank you for a great review. I wish I could put my thoughts on paper like that. And agree with your assessment of the Alba.,.- Abbeyrd1969

I have had my Alba's for a week now. I find them crisp in their delivery. Much more forward than the warmth described in some reviews. I suppose they are warm compared to the Simgot EA500LM(which I truly despised) or something similar. My favorite single DD has always been the Meze Rai Solo...- Abbeyrd1969

For all of my movie watching, I use the Kiwi Ears Quartet with Spinfit CP100's, switches are down-up with the Moondrop Kato stock cable. Great impact with no sibilance. Out of my 10 sets, this is my go to from Sci-Fi to Rom-Com.,.- Abbeyrd1969

Reply to review by 'Abbeyrd1969' on item 'Fiio FH5s Pro, the FH5s gets a nice upgrade.'
Although the setup of my Fiio FH5s Pro may seem unconventional, it makes it my top IEM. I run mine with Bass Switch down, Mid and Treble switches up with Final E-Tips to tone down the treble. My source is an iFi XDSD Gryphon with 4.4 ie match on as well as XBass on. That convoluted set up has...- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
testing them on the new Julian Lage album. Not the best tone on the guitar, but great instrument separation and expansive sound stage.- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
Once again, THANK YOU!! I almost had to compress the pins flat, but it worked! Still a little loose on the left one, but is holding. This really is a great sounding set for a single DD! Imaging and separation is top notch! If they end up sending me a replacement, I would be happy to send them on...- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
Thank you for the advice. I never considered the actual diameter of the pins or their shape. I did however carefully widen and narrow the distance between the pins without damaging them, to no avail... I will take the single ended cable that came with the IEM's and work on that. I went ahead and...- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
I agree. I have plenty of chi-fi in my collection. I am running about 75% rate where I have zero problems with iem's ordered. That is not great qa/qc. most problems I have just learned to live with. This is only the second set that I have been unable to make work. The other set were Fiio FH5s...- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
I am a Sony man. I would love a set of m7 or m9's. I have had bad luck with Sony IEM's in the past though. Same with Shure. You can just look at the plastic casing wrong and it will break. My sunscreen completely delaminated the glue holding the two pieces of my SE425's together. They have been...- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
I like the idea of going straight to Simgot since I have the invoice as well as the video of the problem. They may be more inclined to help me more than going through a supplier. Thanks.- Abbeyrd1969

Trying to escape the Chi-Fi trap of cheap IEM's
I am having issues with any cable staying connected to my Simgot EA500LM IEM's. Linsoul is making me jump through hoops to prove the problem exists. Video evidence. I have spent way to much time catering to their demands. All of this for a $90 IEM! It will push me over the edge if they just send...- Abbeyrd1969

Campfire Chat - Official Campfire Audio 2024 Thread!
I have found that the FIIO FC-RC Pro cable Or the FIIO FC-RD cables are amazing for all of my MMCX connected IEM's. The FD-RC pro has a nice feel to it with a solid MMCX connection along with the 3-way terminal connectors(3.5mm, 3.5mm, and 4.4mm). The FC-RD is a little brighter sounding in my...- Abbeyrd1969

Campfire Chat - Official Campfire Audio 2024 Thread!
I was so bummed to see the Holocene sold through on the Drop site. I have a set of the Mammoth's and was so looking forward to hearing the BA counterpart to them. I am so tired of Chi-Fi. 50 sets of their version of Harmon. I love the character and musicality of (affordable) sets from CA and...- Abbeyrd1969

Reply to review by 'Abbeyrd1969' on item 'Simgot EA500 LM'
I have had my LM's for a week now. I have found that the Brass nozzle with Final E-Type tips works best for me. In comparing them to other single DD's in my set, the closest I can find to the LM signature are the MEZE RAI SOLO. Everyone trashed them when they came out, but I found them to be...- Abbeyrd1969

Comment by 'Abbeyrd1969' on listing 'iFi xDSD Gryphon with miter case and stand'
Is this item still for sale? I have an iFi Hip Dac 2 that may be what you are looking for. I love it, but the battery will only last 6.5hrs during the night and is inevitably dead when I wake up. I feel like the Gryphon may be able to ,make it through the night. My Hip Dac 2 is in like new...- Abbeyrd1969

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
I love my Shure RM-BT2 for wireless use with MMCX connection. I have had to send my Shure SE425's in for repair on the MMCX connection four times in as many months. I switch them back and forth between wired and wireless, depending on needs. The Shure repair representative actually told me on...- Abbeyrd1969

New Member Introductions thread
Where do I go from here. I have always built full size systems to satisfy my curiosity for differing sound systems. I now have started on the IEM journey. I originally purchased Sennheiser IE 5.00, then Shure SE425's years ago. More recently purchased FIIO FH5s PRO. that opened a new world of a...- Abbeyrd1969

iFi audio hip-dac 2 Gold Edition - Superior sonics now come in... gold!
I believe there are enough sheep out there who have bought into the MQA farce that any companies marketing department would insist on their equipment to have MQA decoding just to snatch up that market share. I agree with you 100 percent about what MQA is(or should I say, is not), but most people...- Abbeyrd1969

**Shure SE425 Review**
I run my Shure SE425's with the Shure BT2 Adapter. Huge power and great sound with all of the latest BT formats. The BT2 also works with other IEM's with a MMCX connector. The more effecient the IEM, the better they sound. My Campfire Audio Mammoth's sound great, while the FIIO FH5s are a little...- Abbeyrd1969
