Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
I don't necessarily think that toroids are better per se, although they do have a history of being quiet when other transformers might hum. When properly implemented and shielded from other components, non-toroidal transformers can provide excellent performance. I have never had a problem with...- DeeT79

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
From my experience with tube amps, sometimes it's just type. I've had the custom power transformer of an almost five figure tube amp hum slightly although it couldn't be heard when music is playing or with headphones that weren't very sensitive. Switching to a custom toroidal power transformer...- DeeT79

I'd be disappointed if I purchased a pair of tubes at that price and the pair only lasted a little over a year regardless of how good they sound. The one year warranty is not long enough for my taste although it's in line with other tube companies except WE. For me, I usually judge a product by...- DeeT79

I usually use FEDEX 2 day or FEDEX Standard Overnight even though these options increases the cost of shipping. Personally, I feel the fewer times the package is handled, the better the chance of receiving the product in good condition. I also think that carriers take more care with packages...- DeeT79

Sorry to hear this. I wanted to send my Yggy A2 OG in for the upgrade but I hesitated because I didn't want it to come back with issues. I have absolutely no issues right now. Your post has made my decision easier. I hope you get it sorted out.- DeeT79

You are right. Most Envy/Susvara users are using more expensive DACs but the Yggy sounds so good to me that every time that I think I'm going to change DACs, I can't justify it. I was looking at a May KTE for a while but I don't think it's significantly better than a Yggy. I'm thinking about a...- DeeT79

I'm running a Yggy OG A2 into the Envy and use Susvara most of the time. I use WE300B equivalents for power tubes and for driver tubes I primarily use Telefunken G73r 12AU7, Brimar CV4003 12AU7, Mullard ECC82 12AU7, Brimar CV1988 6SN7, and RCA 5592 Red Base. With this setup, I get excellent...- DeeT79

I second this. I use the Feliks Envy with upgraded tubes and music sounds great. I can roll tubes as necessary to fine tune or change the sound. The Envy is as fast and visceral as any SS amp that I've heard .- DeeT79

Sounds like you are experiencing interference from the other devices. I had the transformer hum which was mechanical and it did not sound like your video. I couldn't hear anything through the headphones even with no music playing and the volume pot maxed out when using Susvara. When using...- DeeT79

My apologies if I missed your previous post. Which 6SN7 TungSols do you think are better than Melz? If you have the RCA 5692 red base, how do the TubgSols compare to those?- DeeT79

When listening to Holo May were you using HQPlayer or some other program for upsampling? I've heard mixed reactions on May's performance without external upsampling. That is the only reason why I'm hesitant to get one. That and I'm happy with Yggy OG A2.- DeeT79

Brimar CV4003 is a warm but detailed tube. This tube has excellent midrange and mid bass. Vocals are clear and near lifelike with Susvara. Brimars have excellent clarity and good resolution. The mid bass is slightly exaggerated but does not bleed into other frequencies. Resolution and instrument...- DeeT79

I also recommend trying to connect the Yggy to a computer and see if the problem persists. Usually the Yggy will recognize the connection without the user having to manually select the connection type. I also have an OG A2 and have never had a problem but I have never tried connecting to a phone.- DeeT79

I had my transformer replaced as well. I'm not sure what type of transformer Feliks uses but it is a custom transformer from Edis, the maker of the output transformers. When speaking to Lukasz directly, he told me that the units that exhibited excessive transformer hum were being repaired with...- DeeT79

I've had several email exchanges with Feliks, Lukasz in particular. Most of them were responded to in less than 24 hours. There was only one that was never responded to that I assume was lost in the email shuffle because I waited 3 weeks and wrote Lukasz again. I received an immediate response.- DeeT79

I agree that it might be impossible to eliminate all noise with a powerful tube amp like the Envy when using very sensitive headphones. It does sound like the OP is experiencing higher than normal noise. When I first described my problem, a lot of people said that my noise was so low that it...- DeeT79

I could hear external transformer noise if my head was close to the power transformer if I really listened for it. I wasn't tracking that Upscale is no longer a U.S. distributor as I just had my power transformer replaced less than 30 days ago.
