Can anyone offer their thoughts on the 6L6 tubes? I have heard the RCA black plate and GE gray plate 6L6GC, do any others sound better? How would you rank them? I appreciate it and thanks in advance for any replies.- OldSkool

Since you asked, my experience has been nothing but positive. Matt at Toolshed Amps is a great guy and a skilled amp designer, as you can see from their website. I have the Euphoria amp and the Emotive preamp, both purchased about 7 years ago. Those amps mate perfectly with my ZU speakers in...- OldSkool

While organizing my tube collection, I found 2 pair of RCA 6L6GC that I had bought years ago and forgotten about. My Toolshed amp can use either 6V6 or 6L6 variants for power tubes, so I just now rolled them in place of the 6V6 that I normally run. Wow! Pretty nice sound, solid bottom end and a...- OldSkool

Yes sir. I have had this Toolshed amp/preamp combo for 6 years now and wouldn't trade it for the world. It's 6.5 watts of heaven. If you ask nicely, they will even engrave it how you want it. ;) Cheers, JC- OldSkool

After trying numerous combinations in my Toolshed vinyl rig, I have discovered that the GEC L63 preamp tubes pair VERY well with some circa 1940 RCA 6V6G power tubes. Getting lots of detail from the GEC's and the RCA's have such a smooth, silky presentation. Of course, YMMV.- OldSkool

Thanks. I actually meant that the top mica looked rough, sorry. I tend to think that Mullard makes quality tubes, was just surprised to see such a rough internal construction on my pair. So, Tungsram it is and I appreciate the help.- OldSkool

Ok, guys...can any of you gurus help identify these? They were listed as "NOS Mullard 6V6G, branded Haltron". They sound pretty good but the foil getters look like they have been rode hard and put away wet. Did Mullard even make a 6V6G? Thanks in advance!- OldSkool

Good thing for burn-in. The NOS GEC L63 upper treble is starting to mellow at 20 hours. Treble is now down to 6J5G Visseaux territory but with more detail. Nice!- OldSkool

Finally found a nice pair of NOS GEC L63 for my ToolShed preamp. Up to now I have been using Brimar or Visseaux 6J5g's in this preamp, but these GEC's are giving me more detail...nice! However, the upper treble is more pronounced. Is that something that a few hours burn-in will tame or is that...- OldSkool

Woo WA2 Tube Rolling Recommendations
Flisker, I think you will like those Tellies. I'm running the same in my WA2. Well, TFK EZ80 instead of EZ81...but I believe they are interchangeable. Enjoy! Oh, and anything Bill recommends...just buy it.- OldSkool

What headphones work best with the WA2
My WA2 also likes the 'funkens. I'm running TS 5998's, TFK EZ80's and TFK ECC801S, (12AT7's) via adapters. It's the best tube pairing I've been able to find.- OldSkool

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
My LCD2's are early Fazor and bamboo, circa 2014, and still working flawlessly. I know what you mean about nicely driving them with a Schiit Rag, but my Schiit Mjolnir 1 (balanced SS) sounds identical and is a cheaper option, if you can find one.- OldSkool

My WA2 has been flawless for the last 8 years. However, my Schiit Mjolnir balanced amp exhibited a hum and crackling noise since day one. Turned out to be a noisy wi-fi router under my desk. Go figure. Hope Woo gets you up and running soon.- OldSkool
