AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
That might be worth a shot. But I wonder if that would ultimately help for me, as I actually find the treble to be fine for me. Detail is there without fatigue. It's the lower frequencies that muddy the picture. If the protein leather ear pads effectively boost the treble by fixing those...- frankrondaniel

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
I fall into the camp of finding the Nighthawks overly warm - muddy is the word that always comes to mind when I listen to them. This is even after extensive burn-in and frequent listening sessions over the past year to acclimate myself to their sound. I really wanted to like them, especially...- frankrondaniel

The Astell and Kern AK240 Impressions Thread
I'll preface my response by saying my primary motivation for getting the AK380 was support of higher resolution files than what the AK240 supported (i.e. DXD). Otherwise I was very content with what I experienced with the AK240. Probably a foolish reason to spend so much money on the AK380...- frankrondaniel

In case anyone is interested, I listed my Nighthawks ("Liquid Wood" model) for sale. Despite the comfort I never grew to enjoy their sound signature.- frankrondaniel

One possibility is the MEE Universal MMCX Balanced Audio Cable with adapter set. Only $99, balanced with various adapter (even to single end). I think it meets your requirements except for the memory wire.- frankrondaniel

iBasso DX100:24 bit for bit, PG 1> Reviews & Impressions, Downloads, VIDEO, NEW Firmware 1.4.2.
I'm not sure if the same applies to the HDP R10, but I purchased a replacement battery for my DX100 directly from IBasso last year. Good price (don't recall exactly but much less than $50). I would check with them.- frankrondaniel

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
That is interesting. Maybe whatever defect we had that eventually caused our headphones to die were the cause of the less-spacious sound stage?- frankrondaniel

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
I wanted to add another comment regarding my replacement Utopias. When I purchased my initial set back in January my first listen was after using HD800S almost exclusively for quite some time. My initial reaction when I first switched to the Utopias was "where did the sound stage go?!". After...- frankrondaniel

DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***
I had several units from the same vendor that had the phantom swipe issue. Both became progressively worse over time. Fortunately Paul was able to set me up with a new unit that works flawlessly. I wouldn't waste any time trying to live with the issue - definitely contact Paul and follow his lead.- frankrondaniel

I recently experienced the same issue, except right channel. Very sudden. I ended up sending mine to Focal NA. Not sure if they're going to simply repair them or send me a new pair (I can hope!).- frankrondaniel

DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***
I had a fairly severe case of phantom swipes with two different units. At times they were unusable. I finally received a third directly from IBasso that works like a champ - no phantom swipes at all. I suspect that it's a hardware problem. I would return your unit for a new one - no sense...- frankrondaniel

I'd like to extend thanks Paul from iBasso for supplying me with a new DX200 after going through several that had bad "phantom swipe" issues. At times they were essentially unusable. The new one is running great - no issues so far. It's nice to finally be able to enjoy this device.- frankrondaniel

iBasso DX100:24 bit for bit, PG 1> Reviews & Impressions, Downloads, VIDEO, NEW Firmware 1.4.2.
Sorry - didn't take notes at the time so I'm unable to give you much detail. I can tell you that you'll need what I think they call a Torx (6-point star) screw driver set - not sure of the exact size though definitely tiny! Then carefully remove the 4 end screws (2 on each end). I was...- frankrondaniel

I installed a replacement battery from IBasso late last year and it gave new life to my DX100. I'm not very handy with tools or mechanically inclined but I found the battery very easy to replace. Very much worth the modest cost..- frankrondaniel
