Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
Dude you are 100% correct. I've owned these for 5+ years and the SQ varies wildly. It's almost like at certain times of the day my ear canal just isn't shaped right or something. I get the most consistent sound and fit with the JVC Spiraldot+ tips. But they don't sound as good as the included...- CoryGillmore

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
I think the JVC SpiralDot++ works so well (at least when fresh) because they’re a bit of a hybrid foam/silicone tip.- CoryGillmore

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
Pressure build up kills this IEM. Just destroys the dynamics. Very interested in these foamies I’ll give em try. These are legit Sony tips?- CoryGillmore

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
I started listening to my M9 again after mostly using true wireless IEMs for a while due to pure convenience. The M9, depending on the fit of any given session, can either sound like the greatest IEM ever made or it can sound like complete trash. I feel like the shape of my ear changes...- CoryGillmore

Vape-Fi
I'm still a raging nicotine addict but I've been buying disposable devices now for a good couple years. And to be honest they taste incredible now. I used to turn my nose up at them. Now I'd never go back to an RDA or building coils.- CoryGillmore

What Modern Headphones Beat (Or Equal) Sony MDR R10s?
I would say most headphones "beat" the Sony R10. Considering they are completely bass deficient by modern standards.- CoryGillmore

What book are you reading right now?
Currently reading The Lord of the Rings, the deluxe illustrated edition 1/4 bound in leather that was just released in the US about a month ago. First time reading it even though I've collected 3 editions of the book over the years.- CoryGillmore

What creates soundstage in headphones??
It took me getting a 2-channel loudspeaker setup to even know what a soundstage was in music listening. And that was after over a decade of high-end headphone listening. Getting a high-end 2-channel stereo basically made all my desktop headphone gear irrelevant. No matter how good headphones...- CoryGillmore

Hardest boss fight ever!
Yeah I've yet to find a katana. I'm about level 60 at 60 hours in. I just completed the Liurnia castle/boss. Does the katana scale with STR? What's the requirements on the katana's you've found? I'm a pure STR, VIG and END build. I do have the jump attack talisman and I use it along with the...- CoryGillmore

Hardest boss fight ever!
God those weapons look so ridiculous. I could never. I'm still using a +10 Claymore myself, waiting till I'm 40 STR so I can use the grafted greatsword. I care more about looks than damage output for sure.- CoryGillmore

Help with a new planar
I believe brain burn-in to be the only real burn-in. It's something I've experienced with pretty much every headphone I've ever purchased, new or used. I borrowed a buddy I work withs Fostex TH610 and at first listen I absolutely hated them! Matter of fact I hated them the entire first day and...- CoryGillmore

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Haha brother this thread is in a state of permanent derail. Since you all are speaking of live albums, there's a couple of very new albums that are well done. I didn't get into live recordings until I got into 2-channel loudspakers Bob James-Feel like making Live-this is really well recorded...- CoryGillmore

Replacement for sibilant Fostex TH610 (Aeon/Nightowl/T5P/MDR-Z1R)
I find them harsh and sibilant and power them from a Jotunheim. I also agree with OP about them sounding artificial. Sound the same from all 3 of my amps. Jotunheim, Burson Audio Play and Audiolab 6000a.- CoryGillmore

Help between Sony Z7m2 vs Fostex Th610.
I own Z7M2 and am listening right now to a pair of TH610 (borrowed from a friend). For me personally, Z7M2 all the way. I do not like the TH610 at all. But reading your posts it seems like the 610 may be best for you. The Z7M2 have elevated bass, at least compared to the 610, which I feel is...- CoryGillmore

Sony Walkman Thread: 2022 Successors to the WM1A & WM1Z
I don't see how there's so many salty folks in here. The OG 1Z and 1ZM2 are powerful enough to power literally any headphone Sony makes to date. Sony doesn't give a crap about powering your Susvara or over ear planars out of their portable player. It's a portable player ***! I think a lot of you...- CoryGillmore

What’s your favorite 2ch speaker pair currently?
It's not easy to integrate subs properly. I used measurements with full bandwidth pink noise to dial these in. Corn IVs have fast, detailed and textured bass on their own but they don't dig very deep and lack impact down low. Even these cheap but well integrated subs gave them some much needed...- CoryGillmore

What’s your favorite 2ch speaker pair currently?
I actually ended up with an audiolab 6000a Play and it's totally badass for a roughly $1000 amp. Oh I also rearranged my room to put my speakers on the long wall and get them 11 feet apart, center to center. Fantastic decision. I used these Cornwall IVs for about 7 months with no subs and...- CoryGillmore

NEW! SENDY AUDIO AIVA Impressions?
You can use it but it only comes with a 4.4 to 3.5mm adapter. Which won't help you with the Woo. I'd just pick up a 4.4mm to 1/4 inch adapter on Amazon. Or you can grab a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch and use two adapters.- CoryGillmore

Need help choosing a new in-ear in the 1k-1.5k range
Between those two I vote Z1R. But I think you should strongly consider the IER-M9 as well. It has a strong following nowadays after a pretty slow start in late 2018. I've had once since early 2019. Love it.- CoryGillmore
