HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
Enjoyed reading this. And welcome back into the fold of the hobby lol. Specifically with how much you prioritize bass, I think the Immanis is going to be really close to perfect for you. It really can handle all genres. Will agree with others and as you noted you will, to give it time. But I...- number1sixerfan

HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
I still would really like to hear them, I simply haven't had the chance just yet. I'm refraining from purchasing anything at the moment, so I'll have to run into them at a show or mini meet, unless someone wants to send along a pair to demo. :)- number1sixerfan

HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
Some of you really know how to sap the fun right out of this site lol. People get to have their differing impressions without being attacked, you get the same opportunity to read through, pass and sift through impressions just like the rest of us. It's not that serious. Log off and get a bit of...- number1sixerfan

Spirit Torino Valkyria
As another person that owns both, this post resonates extremely. It's really not about either or, and much more about mood and how they tend to complement each other with various types of music. Both are very easy to grab based on the point in time and how one is feeling.- number1sixerfan

The Stax Thread III
I have the same Kef monitors, but wired. Very special! Haven't used a sub with them just yet but will in the future. Also used to own a SVS sub a long time ago and worked effortlessly blending with speakers with a natural presence. :)- number1sixerfan

The Stax Thread III
The only reason I don't EQ is I feel like it removes a baseline for comparing headphones to one another. I really need to get over that and try it again, I haven't in a long time. And I actually really enjoyed doing so very early in the hobby. I did this with the AKG K1000 a long time ago and...- number1sixerfan

The Stax Thread III
I was going to mention this as well and it's probably more important than amping in this case. The 009 would be at the bottom of my list for these genres. And it's also generally easy to power and more about synergy. The 007 would probably be top of mind (specific bass heavier variations like...- number1sixerfan

The Stax Thread III
Yea I totally agree that it doesn't much make sense to give advice like that. And yea, I believe the KGSSHV should power anything, although obviously you may get better performance out of something else (largely preferential). I've only really observed the softness in dynamics with Stax amps in...- number1sixerfan

The Stax Thread III
It's because of what you just mentioned. The higher end, more powerful amps tend to be better. I've had quite a few Stax amps and I have the T1s as my backup amp--to me it's actually one of their best amps. But all of them have the same pitfall, they are softer sounding with less dynamics than...- number1sixerfan

Dac suggestions for Jazz and Electronic music
You may get more responses in this thread if you say what you're missing specifically with Electronica in your current dac.. + what you really love about it with Jazz that you wouldn't want to lose. :)- number1sixerfan

HIFIMAN Shangri-La: The New Electrostatic Headphones From HIFIMAN
If you're going to spring for something as premium as the Shang Sr., I'd try to also hear the Immanis if you can just given its price in comparison and close performance. But for Classical, yea I'd definitely give the nod to the Sr. by quite a bit as they are just a bit more resolving and more...- number1sixerfan

The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)
I certainly wouldn't say it's the best (also, I just don't believe in such a thing existing in the way people use the term), hence why I don't own it even though having several chances to. Just comes down to what you prefer. I'd say based on your opinions and preferences for the 009/s, you would...- number1sixerfan

HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
Just posting on the amp topic to make my position clear since I made the OP. It was completely unrelated to price of amplification (and I tried to avoid it going down this path by saying that) or gold/silver conduction or anything like that--rather capable and proper amplification for the...- number1sixerfan

HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
I wouldn't necessarily say it isn't a strong suit of the OG, rather as you just mention that a very capable amp is a necessity to get very good performance.. as designed as a low sensitivity set of cans. Powered optimally (and I'm not even talking about price as many affordable speaker amps have...- number1sixerfan

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
I think this is a nuanced question to answer. Because the Shang Sr. is much more open, and has a bigger picture to the sound, I find it to be more resolving. I find the same for the Immanis as well. That said, all of the detail of the music that's present in these two, are also present in the...- number1sixerfan

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
Circling back to the Aperio. I've kind of already known this, but this week spending a lot of time with it, I've confirmed.. at times I've shortchanged the Aperio simply based on not being as open as my other cans. It's really more of a semi-open presentation with a bit more intimate sound...- number1sixerfan

LAMPIZATOR THREAD COMMENTS REVIEWS TUNING
I can only speak for my chain and the Pacific, although it seems like there are a lot of similarities across the product lineup. I think it can be great with any genre, as it performs at a very high level in every category. But the one thing I think the Dave/Mscaler I came from had over it was a...- number1sixerfan

LAMPIZATOR THREAD COMMENTS REVIEWS TUNING
Yea it really can be. I didn't want to go down a rabbit hole tube wise for my Pacific and was really hoping the factory tubes it came with would do the trick (PX4s and I'd have to go back to see which rectifier it came with). But they didn't. Ended up buying quite a bit of tubes before landing...- number1sixerfan

Stax SR-X9000
The x9000 is an extremely unique headphone. It basically combines elements from the 009, the Omega and the 007 (as I see it, this is very subjective). But if you look into this thread, there is not really a consistency in what the gripes people have with it are. Similarly, you see a wide varying...- number1sixerfan

Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club
How simple/complex is it to replace the pads? I see most conversations about variations of pads available or replacing foam. My pair has worn pads (purchased as such) and I need to replace them pretty soon. I have ES Labs pads that I'll probably use but may look into these as well. But...- number1sixerfan

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
Although I shared transparently in terms of the AIC and some of the other amps that I personally do* feel are in the same tier (which is a really short list imo), it's absolutely a tier 1 amp that trumps much of what I've heard. I hate the recent price hike and it's extremely pricey, but it is...- number1sixerfan

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
That's helpful to know. They could've also just let me know that. Ultimately, it's not some huge deal breaker, but I do really appreciate prompt response I've gotten with other vendors. But we'll see how the next week or so goes. :)- number1sixerfan

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
I agree 100%, I happen to really like both, with a strong preference towards the 009. They are excellent to pair together just because of the deep contrast between them. That's actually why I've been so stubborn in chasing down variants of the 007 that sound more unique, as I actually appreciate...- number1sixerfan
