Someone recommend me a DAC for use with my PC and PPA!

I'm looking for a good price/performance ratio and nothing over $500 (please! I need to pay for college and my budget has a way of creeping upwards when buying audio gear) , cheaper is prefered. I built my PPA and can probably build a DAC as long as I can get the PCB already made. I would also...

    PPA Problems

I know this is going to sound insane, but...for some reason, my amp isn't quite right. I swear, the vocals are only playing from the left channel of my headphones. It isn't absolute, if I concentrate I can hear the vocals faintly on the right channel, but they are nice and clear on the left. It...

    PPA Problems

I know a picture would really help, but I don't have a camera right now. Here are a couple of things I changed, if they could be responsible for the bad sound. Some of the R21, R22, R31, R32 (all 220 ohms) are different. For one of them I ran a 100 and a 120 ohm resistor in series cuz I ran...

    PPA Problems

PPA v2.0A My meter really is a POS, but I am guessing from the randomly jumping numbers that it is around 2.2 mV. My DC offset on all 3 channels is 22.8. I used the default resistor values, so if a gain of 11 is default then that is what I have. Otherwise please tell me which resistors set...

    PPA Problems

I just finished building my first PPA. My source is a car head unit. I am using a STEPS at 24v to power the PPA. I am using basically the default parts list on Tangents website, except my l/r opamps are OPA637s and my ground opamp is a 627. I get audio, but it is very low quality. It is...

TEPS stuck at 50 volts? Help!

You guys are awesome. 24v rock-solid. Thanks head-fi and especially Tangent for sharing his awesome designs and even providing pcbs!

TEPS stuck at 50 volts? Help!

Yea, I know...the psu was taken apart to try to find the problem when I took the pics. I'll flip the diodes and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help!

TEPS stuck at 50 volts? Help!

I built this exactly from the directions on Tangent's site. Heres some pics, with that headsink removed so you can see whats in there. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/6453/dsc011062bq.jpg http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/6107/dsc011116aw.jpg Any wires leading off are for the AC...

TEPS stuck at 50 volts? Help!

For anyone who has built the TEPS power supply, have you ever had this problem? I am totally finished except for one small problem: instead of outputing 24v like I planned, it outputs 50v. Adjusting the VSET (the trim pot) adjusts it from about 49.7 to 50.3. I have tried everything, changing the...

How good is the digital signal from an Xbox?

So even a decently good card would have "Excellent" for all the stuff that is tested there?

How good is the digital signal from an Xbox?

^^^ So what do those results mean? Everything except frequency response is Very Good or above, how does that compare to other things?

How easy is it to fix broken amps?

How easy is it to find diagnose and fix a broken amp? Like a car or home audio amp, you know. I want to get one and mess around with it, but I don't have a lot of money right now so I could get a broken one and try to fix it or something.

How good is the digital signal from an Xbox?

Well, I know the analog isn't that great just based on me hearing it. I can't describe it in all your crazy terms, but I just know it isn't as good as my receiver with the bit perfect audio from my PC. The digital sounds fine, but I haven't listened to it very much. XBMC passes the audio...

How good is the digital signal from an Xbox?

It sends DTS/DD signals to my receiver with DVDs, but when I try to play a DD file in Xbox Media Center it is just noise. Does anyone have any ideas? I turned on DTS and DD passthrough and turned off all resampling, but it still doesn't play correctly. Does it resample in hardware maybe?

How can I test for a bit perfect output?

Well, I already had bit perfect going with the Via drivers, so no. However, if the VIA drivers are getting punched in the balls by Mike Tyson, the Prodigy drivers are like a BJ. Yes, it is that much of a difference. You can't use the analog outs though, what a shame.

How can I test for a bit perfect output?

This is what I get with 88.2: Code: INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 88200 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 32 bits, 2 channels ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported sample rate. With 96kHz, I get no errors, I just don't get any sound. Also, when I change the sample rate in the prodigy driver...

How can I test for a bit perfect output?

Thanks! I just used a sample from the first link. With WMP, I get static, with Foobar I get music! However, the resampling problem still bothers me. Anyone have any ideas?

How can I test for a bit perfect output?

I've got an AV710 flashed with the Prodigy firmware. It is working great (Prodigy drivers > Getting Kicked in the Balls > Via Drivers) but I want to be positive it is outputing bit-perfect. Currently I'm using ASIO (no ASIO4ALL BS, it works perfect right after flashing!) with Foobar. Also...

    Ripping CD's Real Time....Best Method?

Go to Fry's or Best Buy or something and buy a DiscDoctor/GameDoctor/CDDoctor/ect. They go by a million different names. There are 2, a mechanical one in which you turn a crank and it uses a piece of rubber to rub some plastic off. The electric one just uses a motor to do the same thing. The...

Whats the difference between speaker cable and speaker wire?

I have the 560s also. The wire they come with is thinner than cheap earbud wire. That stuff is really, really crappy. Not too bad for speakers though. They are pretty good for games and movies and stuff.
