    Feliks-Audio EUFORIA - A Wolf in "Sheep's" Clothing...

Interesting! My problem is that I only have 6SN7 tubes for drivers. I will try with a few of them but I suspect that changing the tube family might make more sense. I have some Russian 6H8C that could do the trick too. Thanks for the info!

    Feliks-Audio EUFORIA - A Wolf in "Sheep's" Clothing...

Thanks for checking @connieflyer, I have tried different drivers with the same result. It seems to be mostly in one channel now that I checked carefully. When I swapped the tubes, the distortion changed to the opposite channel, so one of the tubes seems to be to blame here. I have contacted the...

    Feliks-Audio EUFORIA - A Wolf in "Sheep's" Clothing...

I finally received the EL38 adapters from China. I just fired up Euforia with 2xKen Rad 6SN7GT as drivers and EL38 as power tubes. The sound is pretty amazing, even with almost no warm up of the amp. I guess the word that comes to mind are "depth" and "speed": bass notes are so precise! However...

Please, could you remind me what was the maximum total current draw that is recommended by the manufacturer?

Hi guys, I have been silent in this thread for almost one year :-) I had a bit of a weird experience with my Euforia. After quite some time I went back to my Project Ember with a 6SN7 tube and, although it is less clear and the stage is significantly smaller, I actually feel that Euforia is...

    Project Ember Review

It has been a while since I checked this, but as far as I can remember: Polaris: Solid state amp works with most headphones in terms of impedance (class AB amplification). Ember: tube pre-amp + solid state output stage, works with most headphones (AB amplification). Solstice: similar to Ember...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

I have both, one at home one at work. The sound signature overall is rather similar, but there are subtle differences. Both are excellent all-rounders. In my opinion, the Polaris has a better defined bass. Not necessarily thinner nor fatter, just more articulate, you hear it slightly more...

Hi Tj, I have done it, and it works. The only problem I had is that some tubes of the 6DJ8 family would cause a hum. Thank you @mordy!

    Feliks-Audio EUFORIA - A Wolf in "Sheep's" Clothing...

Hi guys, has anyone tried using a E88CC to 6SN7 adapter with euforia? I have a bunch of 6N23P around and also 6N6P-I that I could consider trying as driver tubes. Not sure the latter would work. I would have standard 6080 or 6S7G as power tubes. Happy new year!

Sylvania 6sn7w + gec 6080 is a very (VERY) good combo, and you don't need adapters. Not a cheap combo though. Those Syl also work nicely with a standard pair of Tung Sol 6AS7G and then the price is not nearly as high. That is my opinion at least!

The designer of Polaris uses the HD650 regularly, and I can confirm that the combo matches nicely, at least given my taste ;-)

Currently listening to Loreena Mckennitt - Dante's Prayer, with Sylvanias 6SN7W + GEC 6080 and HD800. Never heard this song like this. I am ... goosebumpy :-)

    Project Ember Review

You need to buy the 6SN7 to EC88. I am not quite sure you can buy the adapter from any other vendor than Jeremy so that it works on Ember but I may be wrong. I remember some comments about this early on, but it could be when using 6SN7 to 12ax7. I bought a 6J5 to EC88 from a Chinese seller on...

Indeed! I just got a pair of those for my FA Euforia and they work equally good on Ember. Ps: NOT to be confussed with the 6SN7WGT variant, which is actually not as good.

OMG, shopped these as "6080wb valves" from an Italian guy for 20 EUR + shipping...not bad! I think I got the last Bendix pair from him!

For years I have used a Mtech Hiface2 that converts USB to coax. It has galvanic isolation and it works great. I think I got it (4 years ago?) for 150 eur if I remember correctly.

OMG @angpsi, I just received my pair of Sylvania 6SN7W...plugged them along with the GEC 6080 and I have a huge smily at the moment. This setup just sounds absolutely great!

    Project Ember Review

According to the designer, if you don't hear a difference the tube has very low grid leakage (which I guess is a good thing!). http://diyah.boards.net/post/25614/thread

    Project Ember Review

I would choose low output impedance. You can test with bypassing the input caps too. Those headphones have quite low impedance, I am not sure how well they perform with the Ember. The hd6xx is the benchmark used to design this amp and it should pair very well. I have never tried Koss...
