    HD650 upgrade path

The new ones are ever so slightly easier to modify and put normal pads on. If you don't mind MacGyvering stuff there are pretty much no drawbacks besides having the portability of a squat rack...and looking like a dork.   When I get my own place and some extra cash they might just be my next...

    HD650 upgrade path

Dude, honestly.... If you have a pair of hd650s and they're powered properly? Don't even waste your time with any of this other stuff. The hd650 is very very very good. Their main weakness is their resolution(compared to other multihundred dollar sets). You want a true upgrade that you won't be...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Maybe try the closed edition of the 598s? It might be the best of both worlds. You'll have the big bass presence of the dt770 and the convenience factor of the smaller sennheiser?

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

    1. HD650 2. Dunu Titan 1 3. Etymotic EK5 4. Tie between the ath m50 and the 681 evo 5. VSD3s 6. Some cheap chinese pair of LETV earphones(they're pretty good honestly) 7. Everything else. Not really worth mentioning. They range from alright, to just absolutely dreadful

BEST Sub-100$ BUDGET EARPHONES - Chi-fi, Obscure brands and impressions sharing-REFERENCE LIST

I just got the FiiO EX1s and if anyone doesn't know already, they're literally just rebranded Dunu Titan 1s for a smaller price. Same everything. I'll be honest with you, I wasn't expecting these to be half as good as they are. The sound quality is shocking. I haven't done any in depth analysis...

Will cheap replacement chords affect sound quality at all?

I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Worst that could happen is that wired is a different sound signature than wireless. It's plausible but usually not an issue

Hmmmm...Disappointing.   I have the SHE3590 and they were not as impressive as I thought they would be.

Is Xiaomi Piston 3.0 better than Vsonic VSD3 (and VSD5)?

I don't have the Piston 3 but I have the VSD3(S). They are quite impressive technically. I might get the pistons soon but it seems that the sound signature of both is quite similar. Controlled bass with a slight V shape. The VSD3S has quite a bit of treble energy so maybe the piston 3 sound...

Your paid price is seriously 2 dollars? I don't wanna shout "fakes" immediately but I can't really see you getting a legitimate pair for a price like that. I'm sorry but you probably have fakes.  Making fakes of expensive items is one thing but man, the people who make fakes of cheaper stuff...

Uhm, I own these headphones and they actually don't have the biggest soundstage. Not to say I don't like mine, I actually rated these a five and they're the best ones I got(for me). Sorry to see you don't like em. I think calling them a "shiny turd" is bit extreme though. If you look at specs...

Is it worth getting really high-end headphones if your source is 320kbps audio files?

Is it worth it? Absolutely. To be honest the difference between 320kbps and FLAC is miniscule at best most of the time. You can absolutely enjoy and hear the music the way it's meant to be heard with high-end headphones and 320kbps.

Have I been lied to my whole life?

I've always been lead to believe that you need a super amp to power headphones that are 300 ohms and above. Namely the hd600/650, akg 701, beyer dt880, etc. ...but my friends recently stopped by to chill and wanted to use my headphones(hd650). I said sure...but they wanted to plug them into an...

I just failed the Tidal streaming equipment test!!!

If compression is done right, no quality should be lost below the 20khz range, the upper frequency limit of the human ear. Ultimately, compression isn't a bad thing. It saves space and doesn't reduce quality of a track in a perceivable way(if done right).

Any difference in the dimensions is probably so miniscule it won't even make a physical difference.

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

I don't know about the normal hd681 except that it uses the same drivers I think. Honestly I'd just go for the normal one. The evo have a very consumer friendly yet accurate sound signature to them but you can mod the normal ones to get the same, or an even better effect. Stock they still sound...

My headphone lost bass after burn in but gain more goodies, is it normal?

    >so I did the resoldering Yup...that'll do it That's definitely what changed your sound signature. Like you said there's no other physical changes to the headphone itself other than the cabling. Lol soldering the circuit board of a headphone to match a high end diagram will definitely give a...

My headphone lost bass after burn in but gain more goodies, is it normal?

Ha! dude. You can't burn in a headphone when it's already been used for a couple months. That's ridiculous. Your headphones were already burned in.  Either your headphones are malfunctioning or the change is completely psychological.   EDIT-or like the others said, it's the source...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

They will most definitely hold up. They're made mostly out of plastic but it's a deceivingly strong plastic. I never felt like mine would break or snap at any point.

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Interesting. I always thought of the evos as the ultimate kind of gaming "headset" Cool that the takstars are almost as good with soundstage and maybe even better with positioning.   I definitely would say the build quality is the biggest issue with the EVO but for 40$, there really is no...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

If I'm not mistaken most tube amps add a bit of warm "distortion" to the sound. Overall I don't actually think it'd be a bad fit for etys. But I think most tube amps would provide too much power to the little IEMs.

Over ear similar to the GR07 BE

I can personally vouch for the hd650. It is an excellent headphone, but is a little power hungry. The Philips Fidelio x2 likewise measure phenomenally. Maybe slightly more colored than the hd600 but not by much.   Honestly though if you want something that sounds similarly to the gr07 maybe...

The new IEM of Vsonic VSD 3S ( impression updated by smailbz)

Same exact problem. Moving to the foam tips helped calm the highs a lot and brought out the mids more. Now they sound excellent as opposed to before where I really didn't like the harshness and decay of the treble. Just make sure you're getting a really good seal.
