    I heard the demo of the Elysium and the VE8 and to me the the bass was better on VE8 additionally the treble is perfect on the VE8 to me. Its warmth with detail and thats great :) . The Elysium had the better mids but was not worth the price tag. Especially Rock and Metal shine with VE8.

    Thats why you need more than one iem ;) It was similar for me as i listen to the same genres as you and opted for the VE8. I didn't regret it.

    That's also my opinion. They stand by there word and are super fast in answering any question or inquiry that may arise. They are just fast and reliable.

    I think the sony ex800st may fit the bill but it has its own problems. Nearly no isolation and the fit is hit or miss. An other balanced single DD that comes to my mind is the Final Audio E2000 or E3000 (more bass than E2000) but these are also semi open.
