"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers

For anyone interested, here's what the inside of my Alpha Primes look like: Rear damping follows lattices of paxmate sound deadening foam, with stiff felt over the rear bass port. Both Alpha Primes I have had do not contain any wool, instead just a single cotton ball rolled out and laid...

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop

That's very interesting, maybe try and contact Dan for more info. I can say at the very least that my CX looks identical to the one in Z's video.

Yes, you need to remove the three inner screws on the front of the baffle first, then pry open the two aforementioned clamps to free the driver.

Amen, Zero 7 are really good, along with Air official on ZMF's stuff!

ZMF x Vibro & ZMF Blackwood Discussion Thread.

@ohcrapgorillas I have to admit, I nearly snagged that padauk pair of Blackwoods but decided to go with a pair from Zach (nice looking cans btw). Onto the headphone, they really are fantastic. I was a bit surprised to see that the cups do not articulate but they fit my head very well. Cowhide...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Get a grip man. Listen to yourself. You say voltage and current is independently influential towards the sound but this conclusion is based on usage with different devices and a multiplicity of other variables such as topology of the amp itself. How the hell you are comparing this is beyond me...

ZMF x Vibro & ZMF Blackwood Discussion Thread.

All this Blackwood talk is making me excited to get my hands on my pair! That pencil trick is very clever! I have to say, I'm a bit of a pad freak in that I dont like my pads compressing as well. Previously I just placed one of the pads in the opening of the other when storing but I'll have to...

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop

I've put the 2 notch white felt straight over the driver, and you should too. Barely any difference in sound and my ears dont touch the felt anymore.

    ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread

Definitely the classic, BUT, isolation isn't that great. I'm sure if you requsted it to Zach he could make it fully closed but it will sacrifice bass response. I also find the treble on the classic to be a little bright, but that can be solved with many different methods.

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Yes, it is most likely because of an inherent issue due to there being a small gap in the 3.5mm connector in the left ear-cup. This, as you say, directly impacts the 100-200 Hz band. It can be simply fixed by opening the cup up and getting some non-drying modelling clay (e.g. Plasticine) and...

"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers

The original alpha dog used sound dampening foam on the back, ~3mm wool felt 20mm in diameter over the rear of the driver, and three cotton balls in the cups :beerchug:

ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship

I really appreciate your response, very comprehensive and just what I was looking for! I've heard quite a bit about the JAR 650 and it appears to be a really promising modification. The man behind it needs to get an info page or something of the likes up to provide a bit more information imo...

ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship

@Wes S @Pharmaboy Would any of you be able to comment on the forward-ness regarding the midrange of the aeolus with stock pads, against the Ori? I'm specifically looking at female vocals. I have to say, it's annoying trying to find a a nice upgrade (of which I know one doesn't exist) from the...

ZMF x Vibro & ZMF Blackwood Discussion Thread.

Has anyone had the chance to compare the Classics and Vibro mk2? The only major difference between the two (on an EARS rig) Is the upper mids and treble. I know that there are most likely other characteristic differences but it would be nice to know.

    ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread

I use leather protection cream on my leather earpads which helps to keep them in tip-top condition - like this www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Protection_Cream?si=500&gclid=CjwKCAjw44jrBRAHEiwAZ9igKGWw50RsXt9ZjzPXARhqvXBbFo57-REVjWW8e0gSS-HU7jdx0Yi70hoCIZYQAvD_BwE It's expensive but you only...

    ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread

I'm sorry if I caused harm! Just a little joke. Some people aren't in tune with each other when it comes to humour. Anyways, has anyone got any information on how the aeolus compares to Zach' t50 mods - specifically the ori? The nice man named @Wes S has helped me with this but I need someone...

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements

Interesting! He always seems to use rather obscure materials not designed for acoustical applications. Was thinking it could be melamine foam like the vibro mk 1 but maybe not. I'll have to sneak a peak when my Oris arrive...

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements

The 'magic' is also in the Blackwood which are about as closed of a mod as you can get. Something about what is done really makes a difference between a stock driver and one modded by Zach. One can still get pretty far though without opening the housing up. Edit: Was the kitchen scrub material...

Mrspeakers Doggie (Doggy?) treats, are they still available?

The doggie treats have been discontinued unfortunately. However, they can be made fairly easily but obviously without the precision of the machine cut treats. The base is akasa paxmate 2 which has been cut like an arch. This can be crudely accomplished using a stanley knife. Atop this is a...
