    Focal SPIRIT PROFESSIONAL Impressions thread

Wow, M-13 sure hasn't hyped these for nothing!    Dat attack and speed. Detailed to disturbing levels. From record to record I'm going "****'s got too much bass" and "****'s got too little bass". I think these play the chameleon role even a bit better than the Paradox. Definitely more detailed...

But it hasn't. Only Jerg has the word. No measurements, other substantive reviews, nada. Only "holistic" reviews that seem to echo each other. Not that I don't trust Jerg, or any of the other listeners, it's just too soon to make such claims and alter production!

I assume Dr. Fang has ears of his own and even good measuring equipment. But he's also a businessman. "Deep bass" is such a sexy marketing term, conducted by the music and trend paradigms of today, which makes it easy to prioritize it over everything else. Though with products at this...

Except people here don't really talk about music... Good point otherwise :)

You are right I might've lost my reading comprehension regards to the different baffle designs and bass conduction. Got mixed up and didn't bother to go back enough to properly quote. But speaking personally, I'd leave the conduction behind. Have you listened to music that doesn't extend...

Kudos to Jerg for all his contributions in this hobby in general, but Fang has potentially just lost a customer.    I personally simply cannot go and purchase something based on all of this mess. I'm mainly pointing at people obsessed with sub-bass (as Jerg himself has admitted being), as I...

    AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition

Sure it's "better", but a good screw on adapter gives good contact as well. A poor tinning with a 6.3mm connector might even give poorer results (not even sure I would even then notice a difference, for better or worse, given the cable actually works). There are so many variables that should be...

The T50RP Paradox | reviews, discussion, & mini-tour impressions (index in second post)

In my experience the Paradox is very detailed. As I said earlier, it makes everything very apparent, but not in a pronounced in your face kind of way.    Still tend to listen to them too loud due to being so smooth.

To me the T1 have always, in every instance, been a huge facepalm. That price is inexcusable. Win win for me, since the 702 do everything better and at a much more affordable price.

Whatever floats your boat :)   Can't remember whether they were with the velour or pleather. I'm thinking velour, but could be wrong.    Dark and bright maybe, but missing tons of information in the upper mid-range. That steep rising peak at the top made it annoying. Not nearly as...

What's so great about the HE-400 except the seemingly distortionless bass? That uneven presentation in the higher registers was what turned me off the most...

New Leckerton UHA-6S MKII Portable Headphone Amplifier Announced (Update User Impressions Added July 20th 2012)

Just want to bring to everyone's attention, if it already isn't, that the 209 version of the mkII is very susceptible to gsm-interference. Much more so than my previous GS Voyager. I noticed today when I got onto the bus at the same time with a girl talking to the phone, the typical buzz came up...

Quote:   The K701 and Q701 measure really well for their price. I'd like to see measurements of the sixtyfivers to see whether some design in it has cleared any of the issues I had with a K701, because according my to my hearing there are big enough differences.. And there weren't many...

Why did YOU buy an Ultrasone?

I've heard the ED8, ED9, 2900, pro900 and 750 at least... They all sucked. I came to that conclusion by listening to them. Later on came graphs and developed a trend. They too show that they suck. Preference of signature? Sure, but it's a signature that sucks. When you get to a certain price...

Why did YOU buy an Ultrasone?

It's not a matter of sound signature or preferences. They are overpriced garbage. FR is one thing, but they cannot distinguish any musical information. Just put the poo in your face. If people like these, they need to admit to liking headphones that are poor (in music/sound reproduction) on an...

New Leckerton UHA-6S MKII Portable Headphone Amplifier Announced (Update User Impressions Added July 20th 2012)

Another UHA-6mkII (209) owner here. It's a really impressive unit.    Regarding the dac, I think it's more than decent regardless of price. Sure, toslink provided better results, but USB wasn't bad either. I'm also happy with how good it works fed by my 5 year old 160gb classic.

Amazing bass on these cans. I don't see how other than serious bassheads can say that this line lacks bass. Goes very deep with consistency and accuracy, which surprised me. Though I don't really listen to music with information down there, I just had to try for laughs.

Quote:   Fails to distinguish notes in pitch. Well, they don't really fail but don't pass with flying colors either. Especially bass department is just mediocre.. The K702 Ani just made the music "sing" in comparison, for lack of a better word.    I'm open to ideas that would explain...

    AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition

Funny thing is, I tried a Q701 yesterday and it had this tizzy quality I'd associate with a poor chain behind a K70X. The Anniversary editions did not have this out of the same portable system...   Have to admit that I got a good price on them and couldn't resist so I'll get to listen some...
