I also have my speakers set to the French theme. It works wonders beefing up my Dali's in a tiled room. In France too, coincidentally. :beerchug:

    Project Ember Review

That's how it should be set. When I used to use heavy interconnects that dropped down behind my desk I could occasionally cause a hum if I moved the cables. I only use high-impedance cans these days but even so I also find w/am to offer more than enough gain.

That lot's worth more than my car. And my bike, my dogs & possibly myself as well. My wife would divorce me even if it were an option.

I don't use Tidal so I can't help you with that I'm afraid but if your System Settings are set to use Sonarworks Systemwide then surely it's irrelevant what Tidal is doing? That's just a guess btw, I don't pay for music playback software.

When you go into your OS X you should see this or similar... Highlight Sonarworks Systemwide & that's it.

    Best Software Option

I tried True-Fi but didn't like the sound at all. On the other hand I also tried Sonarworks Reference 4 (including Systemwide) and I couldn't be happier. Fabulous sound.

    Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software

This upgrade procedure is a mess. As far as I can tell upgrading from Ref 3 to Ref 4 + Systemwide should be free but when I put in my Ref 3 license key it's asking me for €19. Getting tired of this crap. Edit - I get it now. I'm actually expected to pay €19 to retain exactly the same features I...

I like that last track. Plenty of bass for me but I expect there's so much more on the dancefloor. Luckily, I don't dance. :L3000:

    PX100-II Review | Discussion Thread

Your receiver will likely drive them fine. A lot is talked about amps and although it's true the HD 650 will scale with amp improvements the law of diminishing returns kicks in fast. To be contradictory though, I feel that better amps slightly remove what you like about the PX-100 from the HD...

    VOX: Mac OSX Music Player

Swinsian is garbage & the developer is the most unco-operative develoer I've ever interacted with. The lack of AU support, any credible internal EQ and most importantly to me, the lack of folder navigation kills it. Vox is miles ahead in every department. Still not perfect but good enough. I do...

I can only dream of having the money to buy stuff like the Zana Deux. Even if I won the lottery there's many, many things I'd buy before a €1000 amplifier for headphones. Like a motorcycle, for instance.

I've heard the Vali 2 and it didn't impress me. The others are too expensive/impractical. I've bought cars for less than the cost of the ZD so that's not going to happen. Thanks for the suggestions though. I do hear good things about this amp but I need an amp with a pass-through capability so...

No, I know mate. No offence intended I just wanted to put it out there for clarity. I've never used Massdrop but it seems to me they allow people on constrained budgets rare glimpses into the more esoteric things in life. That's to be applauded in my book. They seem to be getting a lot of...

The quality control issues are nothing to do with Massdrop though. In the case of the Q701 when I bought my pair from Amazon I was relieved to see they were made in Austria. Just around that time AKG were switching manufacture to China and there were already reports of poor quality control...

An items worth is determined by the potential purchaser, nothing else. A product is worth whatever anyone is prepared to pay for it. This rarely has anything to do with production costs or sales overheads.

Not having "treble emphasis" does not equate to being veiled. It is that treble emphasis that is - quite evidently - the colouring problem.   Please let's stop going around in circles.

The real unique quality of the stock cable is that I've ran over it hundreds of times with my office chair and it still looks like new & works perfectly. You can't put a price on that.

I've never tried Roon & frankly never will. I don't understand how anyone can justify the cost. I have the full Voxengo suite and used a couple of the plug-ins regularly with JRMC. Then I got Sonarworks & used its VST plug-in, again, in JRMC. It was stunning. Then my old version of JRMC (19)...
