    AUNE S6 DAC/AMP Combo

Hello, sorry for the very late contribution to this topic, but this morning I tried my S6 with a Gustard U12 and a coaxial connection, and I can tell you that the S6 does not support DoP. BTW, I have never found this feature stated anywhere on the specifications. I tried just to make sure, but...

Review by 'GioF71' on item 'Aune S6'

Introduction First of all, I would like to thank Aune (@AuneAudio) for giving me the opportunity to review their unit. This is the link to the relevant head-fi thread: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/final-list-announced-aune-s6-32bit-384k-dsd-128-dac-amp-worldwide-review-tour.830399/. I would...

    Bit Perfect Audio from Linux

Hello, I understand my post might be confusing. Let me explain my desktop setup. I have a regular desktop PC with Linux Mint 18.2 as well as a dedicated low power box with an Atom D510 with ubuntu server 16.04. I named the latter "desktop media player". Both have mpd and upmpdcli installed...

    Bit Perfect Audio from Linux

the two commands are pretty much equivalent: giof71@desktopmusicplayer:~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 1: x20 [xCORE USB Audio 2.0], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 giof71@desktopmusicplayer:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards 1...

    Bit Perfect Audio from Linux

There are situations where you need a .asoundrc (or at system level, a /etc/asound.conf). But it's not strictly necessary if you simply want to configure one or more alsa output on mpd. Yes of course you may configure more output. The list of sound devices is given by the command posted...

    Linux users unite!

I'd like to mention I really appreciate a lot ubuntu, in all its flavours. I have especially multiple installations of ubuntu server as well as a pair debian. For the desktop, I am now using Linux Mint Cinnamon after trying ubuntu 16.04 with unity, trying Gnome on it from the PPA. That does...

    Linux users unite!

Hello @Ulises, there are different ways, including the following which I have tried 1) Use Google Chrome and PulseAudio. Just check on the console that the sample rate is not changed (44100 Hz). For example, if your DAC is named "DAC", type the following: cat...

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

I own the x12 and used to own the 5th gen Sanskrit. The x12 is a lot better and has better functionalities and connectivity options. The Sanskrit is a nice DAC for the price. You can also upgrade it with a linear power supply for better results. Hope this helps!

Are there any UPNP or Chromecast products in the price range between Chromecast Audio and Sonore Microorbiter

Hello, there are some, one of the latest I heard of is the ieast streamer pro. It does have spdif out (maybe both optical and coaxial iirc), you might want to check their website and see if something matches your use case

    Topping D30 DSD DAC XMOS/CS4398

Hello drteming, nice review. Sorry for the o.t., but I am very curious about your specific o2 amp. I own one from Epiphany Acoustics, but it seems very different from yours. Can you tell us something more about that amp? Thank you and congratulations for the great review.

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

any chance you used the second power supply output (rated 5V/9V/12V, autosense I suppose) insted of the first (9V fixed) for the previous test?   Thank you!

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

Thank you a lot! I am about to buy a SMSL lps (the one from the 'panda' set) but I was worried about your observations. Just curious, did you buy the p1 specifically for the Sanskrit? If so, why not choosing the LPs over the p1? You would have matching size and shape. About heat: you might know...

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

I did, and it sounds noticeably better with a ~6A psu. What is strange is that the P1 is intended for many smsl dacs including the Sanskrit. Any chance the psu itself might be defective? It also seems hard to believe that the Sanskrit needs more than the rate output power of the P1.

    SMSL Sanskrit - a $100 24/196 Chinese DAC

The main difference in the new generation of the Sanskrit is in fact the usb support for 24bit/192kHz, so I would be inclined to think the delivered product is the one you actually requested. As per Wasapi, event is preferable, and is the newest implementation.   I have a FiiO E18 and I...

    SMSL Sanskrit - a $100 24/196 Chinese DAC

I cannot confirm it is the 6th generation version, but for sure it's a newer version than mine. My Sanskrit shows as 96khz max on Windows. On foobar you should use Wasapi for best results, thus avoiding directsound, unless you want to also hear windows sound effects while playing music. Hope...

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

I also have both devices. I agree with the previous two posts. The Sanskrit is better and I do not even own the latest version. With a proper usb to spdif interface I noticed that the 793 can reach 192kHz, but of course this is not supported. @thuNDa do you think the 793II is on par with the...

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

Of course the P1 should be perfectly suitable. In the item description, the Sanskrit is always listed as compatible. The ZetaGI is a lot more powerful (I have another one set @12V powering an Atom 330 minipc, a dedicated network player with linux, mpd and upmpdcli).   Regards

SMSL Sanskrit 24bit 192kHz USB DAC

Hello, no, the P1 was not even available at the time. I am using a ZetaGi FT146. See: http://www.zgitaly.it/italiano/area.asp?sez=5&id=18 It's an italian brand.   I read your location is "Land of Chocolate and Watches", so I might educately guess you are close enough to Italy, so if you...

Teac UD 503 DAC (2015 New Release, DXD, DSD256)

Hello @music_man, is there a post where you show your modifications to the Teac UD501? That is a unit I have been considering for a long time, even if I ended up buying other stuff. Thank you!

    Gustard X20 DAC

First I'd like to note I am not promoting any commercial product. The software solution I proposed is very common and almost entirely based on free / open source software (with the exception of one type of controller for android).   The quality of USB interface is not generally improving...
