Yes, no problem. You can flash any other version like the latest.

Shanling Q1 - Retro-Styled Portable Hi-Fi Music Player// Successfully Kickstarterted, in shops in March.

Thanks for posting the manual. Having read it, I have a suggestion for a long press action of the middle button. If you could use it as 'stop', it would be great to add a bookmarking system like Rockbox has so you can conveniently use the player for audiobooks/podcasts. To quote from their...

Given that it works fine on Windows, your use of 'definitely' seems a bit strong. It can just as easily be something OSX does on its own. Would strongly doubt it has anything to do with ExFat too. It is a bit of an odd name they use for this playlist directory and maybe that can be changed to...

Shanling Q1 - Retro-Styled Portable Hi-Fi Music Player// Successfully Kickstarterted, in shops in March.

Pictured like that, the Q1 screen sure looks a lot prettier. Waiting another 26 days for the next step is going to be hard. Do you have any final backer goals? Are you advertising the campaign elsewhere? The goal seemed quite low, I suspect you intend to sell many more.

Any chance the 'update music' setting got turned to 'automatic' on? What you describe is exactly what that setting does.

My files have ReplayGain tags. Used foobar2000 to scan and apply the tags. In foobar2000 itself (obviously) and my Sansa players running Rockbox it works well. What software do you use to apply it?

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

@Shanling: Can you explain a little how your ReplayGain implementation works? Is it supposed to be noticeable when you change it during playback? Does it work during shuffle play? Perhaps you can add some info on it on the 'information' (i) page in playback where it lists more (technical)...

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

Thank you very much @Shanling. That is a really nice update. How does one confirm ReplayGain is working? Toggling it while playing a song does not change the volume. I am trying this with FLAC files on shuffle so far. Also, what is the use case of the playing speed? If it is for...

It sure is quiet here. Not a great deal going on in the other Shanling threads either. There is room to improve the software but I will not be holding my breath for it to happen.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

Fair point, I could have been more clear about which part of the software I meant. The Linux operating system is completely fine for me. It is fast and does all I want. I have no interest in streaming and the overhead of something like Android would add no value for me. What I meant is the...

I have been using Sansa players (those with the AMS chip) for ages and together with Rockbox firmware they have been brilliant. However, when I got my M0 I was absolutely amazed by how clean the sound was. Sansa are very noisy by comparison. An M0 with the software flexibility of a Rockboxed...

Thanks for sharing that comparison @csglinux. It makes for an interesting read. I do not have any more high-end players than the M0 but I love my M0 for its lack of noise. The hardware seems really great but there are some things about the software that could easily be better (i.e. the way...

I like being surprised, I hope you are right. Which features do you believe were promised?

The focus seems to be on the development for their Android M6. It would seriously surprise me to see more real development on MTouch.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

Yes, obviously. There is a lot of music where tracks follow smoothly after the previous track. Any concert for instance would qualify.

With 'LIST PLAY' you mean the 'Folders' way, not through 'My Music'? Thanks for doing the experiments. The fading confirms what I believed to be hearing. It is really not a great solution.

Not too bad at all, expect rather pointless. The 'database' belongs with the music and could easily be stored on the sd card itself, storing it on the internal memory is silly.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

With the limited succes @Shanling seems to have (lately) to get the attention of the 'software team', I am afraid your hope needs patience too. Gapless playback is a 100% software feature. Most of the things requested (like my pet peeve the still missing replaygain) are completely doable...

No it does not have that. That is what ReplayGain would do too. except not Apple.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

It has been added. You can put m3u files on your player and use that. There is no integration between external playlist files and the built-in playlists though.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

I would be surprised improvements would come any time soon. Most recent changes have not been related to the actual playback. More people have been begging for replaygain than gapless and no sign of it being added. Gapless really is a matter of buffering. The player need to read ahead to the...

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

There is gapless playback for mp3 but it is not always perfect. A lot depends on how the mp3's were encoded. There are many encoders and not all do things equally well. My experience with LAME encoded mp3's I created myself has been quite good on the M0.

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

Did you search this thread for 'battery'. There has been quite a lot of discussion on the subject. The battery indicator is nothing to go by, with BT it lasts shorter than without, standby works really well and the advertised battery life is optimistic like with all manufacturers. You should...

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.2

It has gotten quiet here. Are people all out enjoying their M0? This would be a great time to add ReplayGain so we can shuffle without wildly jumping volume levels harshing our mellows!
