Some "DIY" Closed Backs
The best way I have found is to increase the bottom end, effectively raising the ratio of bass to treble thus making the headphones "darker" sounding.- treys1

Some "DIY" Closed Backs
Sorry I missed this! I am actually enjoying the "D9200" drivers in the closed backs that I opened the side ports on quite a bit.- treys1

Some "DIY" Open Backs
Someone that has been doing the head-fi thing longer than me has a set that I built and he compares them to a mix of Kennerton and Audio Technica's sounds.- treys1

Some "DIY" Closed Backs
Opened the ports (and beveled the hole) on either side of the headband bolts in the Brazilian Pear a good bit (they were tiny pinholes), made a HUGE improvement to the bottom end response. Also, pulled the melamine foam from this pair and went with some felt over the top of the deadening...- treys1

Comment by 'treys1' on listing 'DIY Open Back - Rosewood'
I sourced readily available DIY parts, the fact that the best looking DIY headphone shells look like XTC is a coincidence. I am making no claim that they are the same in any way.- treys1

Some "DIY" Closed Backs
Have been playing with dampening in the cups quite a bit over the last few months, as well as various drivers and adjusting the tuning on the back of the drivers themselves. I have also been avoiding having anything in front of the drivers, detail seems better if you can tune what you want on...- treys1

Some "DIY" Open Backs
The Peerless drivers are awesome in the open backs, amazing value. I did close up some of the vent on the back to tame the bass a bit. D9200 - Meh, they were EXTREMELY hard to tune as they are boomy when you open them up and stuffy if you close them. I got them in a good spot, but prefer the...- treys1

I was using an iFi xCan with the WP900, however I didn't feel it needed either the Xbass or XSpace to be honest.- treys1

Audio-Technica ATH-WP900
I have mine specifically for travel and I love them for that, they are very light and compact. That said, I have recently been playing around with IEMs for travel as I try to travel as minimal as possible, so mine are up for sale. I personally really enjoy the tuning and they look awesome.- treys1
