Sennhesier 595 lost bass and volume in right side

My 595's right speaker let off some crackling sounds, then it lost half its volume and all of its bass.   The cable does need renewing again. Any chance its just the cable at fault and not the right side driver as well?   Edit: Took it apart and now its working fine. There was some loose...

    Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.

Unfortunately not. However, after I spent a few hours trying to get to the bottom of it last night, it was not nearly as noticeable as it had been. I can still hear it with my headphones, but I can drown it out with music. I tried the usual things: remove usb and front audio headers, change...

    Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.

Thanks for your suggestions.    I mostly listen to classical. It would also be used for gaming. Some Oculus Rift demos have started to implement binaural audio, I don't know if that changes which dac/amp I should opt for.   The Asus Xonar DGX is only £23. Would I still hear the ground loop...

    Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.

My new pc build has a ground loop problem. It likes to hiss at me whenever I do somthing so I am in need of a dac/amp.   It will drive a 50ohm Sennheiser HD595. Budget preferably is under £100. I can go higher if it is warranted though.    A few I have noticed on Amazon:   Topping TP30 -...

    Sennheiser 595

Quote: Worth keeping in mind here that the lower the impedance, the more efficient headphones are in converting the incoming electrical energy into sound. On the contrary, the higher the impedance, the more electrical energy is required to drive the headsets tiny speakers. Found that...

    Sennheiser 595

The shop have just told me that the higher the impedance then the easier it is to drive, which is it?

    Sennheiser 595

Ah I see cheers. I take it it would be the 50 ohm version that wouldn't necessary need an amp then?

    Sennheiser 595

Seems there are 2 versions of the 595, a 50 ohm version and a 150 ohm version. They cost the same amount. What difference do the ohm values make? Does it mean one is easier to drive than the other?

    Amp for an AKG K501

Cheers for advise, after a week of use I can see why these really do need an amp. Unfortunately the right can is making a rattling sound, so they will have to go back anyway.

    Amp for an AKG K501

Ta for the recommendations. Got my k501's today. They sound great to me un amped (though im no audiophile), but on one classical guitar songs I had on it had problems with some small parts of it. I guess that's where the amp comes in? I tried them out with a film as well, whilst watching...

    Amp for an AKG K501

Thanks for the suggestions but those are all rather expensive, and some several times more than my headphones cost. I was looking for something around £100 max.

    Amp for an AKG K501

Been researching headphones and just forked out £103 on a K501, and now the search for an amp begins. Can I have some recommendations please? I've no idea what sort of price range I'm looking at to get the most out of my headphones. Am I looking at over £100 here? I'm a bit lost, I've only...

HD 595 or akg k501? (un amped)

Would something as cheap as this suffice? Or is everybody thinking more along the lines of Pro-ject Headbox Headphone Amp? Think I will buy the K501 for now, hear it for myself and purchase an amp later if I think it really needs it - my standards are probably a lot lower than most of you...

HD 595 or akg k501? (un amped)

How much would I be looking at for an amp 2nd hand? If only the AD700's used a conventional design, would definatly be going for those.

HD 595 or akg k501? (un amped)

Was going to buy the ATH-AD700 till I read reviewers had problems with how it sits on your head. Since I have a relatively small head, I have decided against it. Now its down to the HD 595 £85, or the AKG K501 £103. I noticed the headphone guide recommended the 501 be used with an amp...

£60-100, good for films and acoustic songs

Cheers for the suggestions. Can pick up a HD595 for around £95 delivered. The Audio Technica ATH-AD700 look like they could take more of a beating, assuming the wings are an alloy or are they plastic? Also looked at the Denon AH-D1001 and noticed this in the description: Quote...

£60-100, good for films and acoustic songs

Can get them delivered from todd the vinyl junkie (head-fi sponsor on the left) for $93 - £48. Not sure if once it arrives in the uk it would be subject to duty/tax though as mentioned on dxcstore. Then there's also the issue of warranty...

£60-100, good for films and acoustic songs

I liked the price of the goldring dr150s though im now very tempted by the grado sr-60s after reading a few reviews. They also look like they would really last, unlike my HD555's which have a dodgey right speaker (though only occasionally, most of the time they work fine ). Thinking ill stick it...

£60-100, good for films and acoustic songs

Looking for some full size headphones to meet the below criteria. Between £60-£100 Decent for films and tv series To play acoustic guitar instrumental tracks and classical (128-256k bit rate) To be used on a computer (creative x-fi music sound card) Would also consider an amp and cheaper...

    Creative Aurvana Live any good?

Cheers for the info eric. A bloke on another forum tried the AD700's and sent them back in favour of the AKG K 240 Studio due to a lack of bass, which I quite like when watching films. They only cost around £65 delivered as well, do they need an amp though? Im completely lost now, theres too...

    Creative Aurvana Live any good?

Cheers for the heads up. On reflection looking at the images, they do seem kinda flimsy. Are audio technica's one of the better options for films or is there a make im over looking? Do you need an expensive set up to really notice the difference between say the AD500's and the AD700's or is...

    Creative Aurvana Live any good?

After reading threads on this forum I had finally decided to buy the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, managed to find it for £92 delivered. However, I stumbled across some good reviews of creative's Aurvana Live headphones, which cost merely £60 delivered. Anybody tried these out yet? I ran a search on...
