ADAM Audio Studio Pro SP-5 - Impressions Thread

Well, I am happy for everyone who is enjoying them, but they were way too sharp up top for me. I ran some frequency sweeps and there was a sharp peak at arround 10khz, while the rest of the frequency was actually pretty even. Maybe their special design (which is supposedly making them sound...

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop

That is extremely helpful. Thanks a lot! :) Really looking forward to them, even more now that I've read your description of them sounding more balanced compared to the AFC, with better mids. I'm also in love with the look of the Ether CX.. the carbon fiber is truly gorgeous and the design with...

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop

@mrspeakers , I owned the Aeon Flow Closed but they were just a touch too bass light for me. Comfort and the rest of the frequency range was fantastic though. I'm not sure if I've maybe not burned them in long enough - would the bass response increase, at least a bit after the 200 hours of...

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Received the Alaras yesterday.. instant love, really. Bass is as thick, dense, detailed and fast as expected and wished for. The soundstage is kind of house-like, picking up details is so easy and it's not too narrow for me at all. Since I'm gonna use them to make Music as well, it's pretty much...

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Hmm. Yeah, lets see. I'll be waiting for them tomorow since they'll arrive that day. It's gonna be nice and sunny outside but I'll probably just wait for the delivery guy. :D Then I will gladly post if I experience any of the Quad issues with the Alaras. I really hope for you, me, and every...

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Oh. No. Please. Not.. I've ordered the Alara's since the Quad has so many problems, in the hopes that the Brainwavz model does not have these problems. Let's see.. you don't have the Alara's with you anymore, right? Cause if you do, what happens when you push the driver to your ears? The Quads...

    Neumann NDH 20

Oh my god that is hilarious... :D Don't really understand the people here stating they don't like him. Don't like him, don't watch his videos but why judge/analyze others for liking him? Every person has a different perspective on life and everything in it in general.. same goes for headphones...

Superb review as always. I really enjoyed reading it and I had to laugh out loud when I came to the Verum One cat ears part, one reason you wouldn't wear them on the go :D. Ordered the Alaras myself and I'm pretty stocked! Currently owning the Quad ERA-1 but I have quite a few driver problems...

Hmmmmm. I'll connect them to a much more powerful source at home. My LG V30 drives the Meze 99 or Sennheiser 660s to ear bleeding levels, the ERA-1 only to basically a normal listening volume. Let's see what happens... EDIT: Connected them to my Xonar Asus STX at home, which can drive them to...

Glad to hear that man! Hope it'll stay that way, because right now both sides don't produce any sounds anymore. xD Tried a different cable, no luck. When I tap them lightly they produce sound for a second and then turn silent again. It's so strange... I must've gotten a really bad pair, maybe...

Just got them an hour ago. Disappointed to say the least, as the right side is not working. Gave the right side a few taps, now they played Music again on that side... but only for a few minutes, and, I shouldn't have to do that on a 700€ headphone.. The sound is really really good, but I'm...

They ship with the Noir's so I own them as well. Compared to the usual old pads which are shipped alongside, the new pads have a more high quality memory foam, are more comfortable, but the driver touches the ear a bit, still more comfy than the original ones. They bring out the mids and highs a...

The Bass boost really does help in noisy environments, making them sound more balanced lol. Some said that you can't really wear them while walking because of the headband design, I have no issues with that. They look so sleek that I just want to wear them outside. Also, I wouldn't worry about...

Great review Darku. Very well written and honest, displaying your feelings as well. Makes me love the 660s even more

Hehe... I think I literally have no coworker which hasn't asked me that question before since they also see me cycling through headphones like it's underwear. In a short amount of time I owned so many different headphones (prob about 20 in 2-3 months) until I settled with the Meze's and...

Definitely true for most people, but I kind of don't like to put things into my ear anymore, especially when super portable headphones like the Meze's exist. But that is really just me.. maybe someday in the future I'll get some really decent IEM's again as a nice alternative. I would love the...

Yeah. Acoustic sound is the description I was looking for! :) I feel you a lot though; I'm also really weird when it comes keeping/selling headphones. I was super euphoric about getting some really decent In-Ears, got them, handmade to order, thought I'd never wear over ears again. I was happy...

Well, those are all legit arguments for selling the Noire's. If you get good chunk of what you paid for them back, it would make sense, I probably wouldn't bother owning two rather "similar" (in terms of overall performance) headphones as well. Still, the Meze's, and this might be pure placebo...

I see, thanks for your response. :) Not sure if you have already, but they kind of sound even better now with the small hole, foam inside earpads which are also more comfortable. Bass gets tighter, less bloomy, and interestingly mids and treble come out more, as seen in the frequency graphs of...

Pardon if you wrote before why you "don't like" the noir, but why is that? I feel you regarding the keeping both part - these days I just say heck, if I can afford it I'll just keep at least 2-3 headphones I can cycle, we do actually only live once. :D I really think the 177x would not sound...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Running them out of my Xonar STX Essence which is a really nice soundcard built into my machine, if I chill in bed I'm using the LG V30. The Quad DAC of the LG phones should generally not be underrated. They drive these to ear-bleeding level, but most of all, they produce a really nice sound...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I purchased the HD660s, but hopefully, I'll someday get a chance to listen to the HD650/HD600 as well. :) Maybe the picture didn't load correctly? I shared a picture of them in my last post and I generally think they have a beautiful design, especially now in complete black.
