Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
The new AZ20 Earhooks look great. Qualcomm Lossless BT 5.3. I wish they went with a standard 2-Pin though. I can't use my best IEMs with that recessed connector. I hope they release a standard version at some point, because I can't find other earhooks with specs like this.- bhazard

Hifiman Edition XS Launched
I had the Monoprice THX-887 driving it. Specs say 32 ohms: 6000mW, so I was near 4w @ 50ohms. To me, the low end was better on the V2, but everything else (mids, soundstage, treble, imaging, etc) was noticeably better on the XS. Agreed on the crap stock cables and poor earpads. I use XINHS...- bhazard

Original HE-6 SE or V2? I had V2 and found the XS to be better, but I never tried the original.- bhazard

Hifiman Edition XS Launched
In 20+ years of being an audiophile, I've never been happier with a headphone. I've owned many, and the XS is simply the best price/performance set, as well as one of the best tuned I've ever owned. It blows away previous Hifiman and Audeze sets I've had. With that said, I also needed to have...- bhazard

Nope, not biting on the ZAR unless there are some extensive reviews this time. HM20 and whatever the other one was before it are already collecting dust.- bhazard

Kiwi Ears Cadenza Based on it's tuning/graph I thought I would really like it in stock form. Surprisingly, I don't. AS pointed out some flaws of it before. It feels like the dynamic driver is limited in it's performance. I also felt like the treble was uninspiring.... because it is. Things fall...- bhazard

MEAOES Audiophile IEMs impressions & reviews
Eagle has better low end extension and sub/midbass levels. Takes a slight boost there like a champ for even more impact. Hexa starts to enhance after 2kHz, but at a much lesser degree than the Eagle after 1kHz. This makes them sound similar up top but without that extra boost the Eagle has...- bhazard

MEAOES Audiophile IEMs impressions & reviews
...and it's a problem that keeps these from being exceptional. I finally tried the Truthear HEXA today, and it makes it hard to justify keeping the Eagle. I'll hold on for an auto eq/squib and the new filters.- bhazard

Truthear Impressions/Discussion
Finally able to spend time with the Hexa today. Immediate thoughts? If I boost subbass a bit more than I usually do on most IEMs, I can match the SQ of the Meaoes Eagle and Aful Performer 5 quite easily without any other adjustments. Those are $150 and $220. Hexa is $80. Very, very impressive...- bhazard

MEAOES Audiophile IEMs impressions & reviews
I'm going to need to try the new filters. The sounds is too bright stock (for me), and I attribute that to the Titanium driver. I've never liked Titanium and have always found it to be too bright whenever implemented (think Klipsch speakers). That is the only issue I have with the Eagle though...- bhazard

Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
No need. Spiral Dots didn't help for me. You'd have to physically filter the excess peaky treble or EQ it. It sounds great after you do though.- bhazard

It doesn't look like the Meaoes Eagle came with the extra filters Penon mentioned in the package, so they are probably coming later and I can reassess then. The value in the purchase is pretty high here. It came with a modular cable and all the terminations, plenty of tips, fabric case, and a...- bhazard

I'm not following? If you're expecting near perfection or no EQ necessary from the Aful Performer 5, that 10kHz dip makes it an audible non starter and people should look elsewhere for $220. Some reviewers aren't highlighting this, and some have. Otherwise once you do handle it, it's a nice set...- bhazard

Stock vs AutoEQ to HBB. Perfectly listenable stock, but excels when fixed/smoothed, especially near that dip. HBB 2022 matches my preferences, so this is very much to my liking.- bhazard

I took a chance on the Aful Performer 5 and I'm glad I did. This is the second IEM in a row where I felt I didn't need to use EQ to enjoy them (KZ PR1 Pro recently as well). I can hear the 10kHz dip which can make the Performer sound dark, but a boost there helps regain what is missing. AutoEQ...- bhazard

Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
I think I'm burned out on releases. I love the PR1 Pro, but with the Aful, Cadenza, and Hexa also coming, it's hard to justify yet another set. As soon as I finished writing that I ordered the FLA and CXS. lol I tried to convince myself I didn't need them, but the price and tuning is hard to...- bhazard

They sound different. I like the Aful right out of the box quite a bit. The BAX not so much. Seeing the nearly exact same case, box, inner bottom layout, and possibly a TRN cable in the case caught my attention. I've only seen this box layout with TRN, and Aful did come out of nowhere recently...- bhazard
