Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread

I haven‘t heard the X but have the Aeon RT. Both the noire and RT are great headphones and I use both frequently. The Noire has more bass (sub and mid) and wider sound stage but less forward midrange. RT has less sound stage but more forward midrange and can be made even more forward with solid...

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread

Not sure if this is related. I've had the right driver on my Aeon-RT sort of seize up with greatly reduced output and running it at 100 dB or so for a few seconds frees it up and the channel imbalance goes away. I had a permanent channel imbalance happen with the original AFO I think that was...

Can you handle the Beast! Introducing the iDSD Diablo 2!!

Ah OK. I wish someone would make dongle for higher bandwidth bluetooth transmission. I think Sennheiser made one for AptX adaptive but I haven't seen a lossless or even LDAC transmitter.

What does that usb-A dongle thing do? Bluetooth transmitter?

Can you handle the Beast! Introducing the iDSD Diablo 2!!

Please let us know what you find out. Would be interesting if this can run directly off mains power. I think most (all?) of the iDSD series stop charging after 80% while on to protect the battery. My gryphon actually never seems to charge above 80% even when off. The iPower for the Diablo comes...

This looks like the digital potentiometer from the gryphon?

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread

I highly recommend the iFI Diablo for the Aeon 2 / Noire (or any DCA headphones really, ETHER 2 especially). It just has so much power that planars really come to life with it. The DAC section is really great too. The Diablo has great treble extension and adds a bit of energy to the upper...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

I think these are probably my favorite closed backs other than the Stealth, which I'm hoping to buy eventually. ETHER Cx sounds very different, but also good; just way more neutral and less resolving.

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread

I recall the Asgard 3 being a bit rolled off in the upper midrange / treble and it might be overemphasizing the slightly dipped midrange of Aeon 2 with perforated pads. I run my Aeon 2 with solid pads and a Jotunheim 2 or iFI Diablo, which have more treble extension. The Aeon RT are much more...

@mrspeakers is there a way to specify perforated pads or do they come stock with solid?

iFi audio xCAN - The Official Thread

The gryphon is a huge step up from xCan. The DAC is much better and it can be used with USB-c in to bypass Bluetooth. The Bluetooth implementation is very good too. The xCAN DAC is a bit more V shaped and peaked in the treble so can sound more exciting in some ways. The gryphon sounds more...

Do these sound like an open ETHER C1.1 with more of a mid-bass boost?

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Aeon 2 has never fit well for me despite Aeon 1 being super comfortable. I don't know why but I get a hot spot on the top of my head and/or a headache from clamp pressure. The Dekoni pads (solid sheepskin) seem taller than the stock pads but the surface area seems to be larger, so that helped me...

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread

There's a definite hiss in my system with LISST on high gain using ATH-m50x. It's not audible when playing music. The hiss is essentially gone on low gain (maybe a super faint one). With Dan Clark ETHER Cx and AEon I agree, totally silent. Not sure if there is some crazy synergy but this...

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread

I haven't seen a lot of discussion about this, but the new LISST sounds really great with Lyr 3 / BF2. I've only been using a new production Tung Sol and Psvane UK-6SN7 in my amp so I don't have any fancy NOS tubes to compare. The LISST has a nicely balanced very detailed solid state sound but...

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

I've been listening to MM2 for about a week now. This is an outstanding DAC. It's like a mini Bifrost 2 OG. I'm a big fan of the Analog Devices chips. I prefer MM2 to MM1, due to the clearer overall presentation, but I can appreciate some might like the darker signature of the MM1. Compared to...

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

I don't listen to classical more than about 10% of the time; mainly electronic and metal. But I'm noticing with MM2 I've been spending more time with classical music. This DAC really does very well with complex pieces involving many instruments. Violins sound very engaging and brass instruments...

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

My 1-2 day impressions of MM2 are that there is greater treble extension vs. MMv1 (from memory), but no glare that I detect at all. It's at least as smooth as my Bifrost 2 original board version. MM2 sounds more linear in the bass vs. a slight bass boost from Bifrost 2. MM2 just sounds very...

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

Just trying mine out after 30 minute warm up. Night and day better than Modi 3 AKM. Modi 3 is a great DAC but the transients and treble sounded a bit soft to me. Bifrost 2 still has better width, depth, and resolution. However, I'm noting a big difference here with MM2: this thing kicks hard in...

    iFi audio iSilencer+ and iDefender+

@iFi audio using my iDSD signature as a DAC with RCA out to a desktop amp (Jotunheim 1, may not be fully grounded) I’m hearing a high frequency screeching sound related to interference when I move my cordless mouse (Logitech uses a USB dongle). Would iDefender help here and if so where in the...

xDSD Gryphon: birth of a ‘head-fi’ legend

OK thanks. I still have mine on an older firmware with -dB and it sounds a bit dynamically compressed until -10 dB. Compression seems to go away entirely at full power, but I'm worried about damaging the battery / internals running it that high.
