    Topping A90

Balance and RCA cables sound the same on both A90 and 789 except the volume output is louder when using the Balance cables. For the input I use usb. I have the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I guess they would be considered low end. The MDR 7506 sound pretty good with the A90. I'm surprised how...

    Topping A90

I used the Topping D90 MQA DAC as the source for both the A90 and the 789 interchanging Balanced and RCA cables between both amps. The headphones I primarily listen to are the Focal Clears and the Sennheiser HD 660S. I don't use EQ presets. When listening with headphones I think the A90 has a...

    Topping A90

I’m surprised some people are claiming the 789 has a wider soundstage than the A90. To me it’s the opposite, A90 has a wider soundstage. The A90 has more warmth (bass) the midrange sounds smoother while the 789 is slightly more analytical. When the music gets very busy the A90 sounds slightly...

    Topping A90

When I mentioned brighter in the last paragraph I was referring to the treble. I thought the treble sounded like it was slightly rolled off the first time I listened to the A90. After numerous listening sessions I realize that is not the case.

    Topping A90

I don't think the A90 is an upgrade for the Focal Clear unless you prefer a wider soundstage and an overall warmer presentation. The A90 sounds a little more engaging, more musical, a little more forgiving to poorly recorded music. Overall there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between...

    Topping A90

I’m not experiencing any noise from the RCA either. Given the technical specs I thought the A90 would sound almost identical to the THX 789. Based on a very limited amount of time comparing the A90 and the THX 789, the A90 appears to have a wider soundstage and a slightly warmer sound. At...

OPPO PM-3 Portable Planar Magnetic Headphones Loaner Program

Received Unit #3 yesterday.  Between now and when I joined the loaner program, I purchased a pair of OPPO PM-3's.  Now that I have finished comparing the PM-3 that I purchased to the pair in the loaner program, I am ready to ship to the next person.

I would like to participate in the OPPO PM-3 loaner program to make a quick comparison to my other portable headphones.  I agree with the terms and conditions.

SIBILANCE - List the headphones you have sold because of sibilance

Sennheiser HD 700.  I was hoping the HD 700 was the upgrade I was looking for to replace the HD 600.  After an extensive A/B session between the HD 600 and the HD 700, the HD 600 won because of the sibilance of the HD 700.

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

I'm hearing the opposite of a v shaped signature on the XS.  The midrange sounds slightly more forward than the bass and the treble.  Vocals really pop on these little cans.  I'm listening to Indie Rock which may be the reason why the XS doesn't sound v-shaped to me.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review.  Wow you must have had one good Starbuck's buzz going on to crank it out so soon!!  Glad to hear that you are a happy camper with the AKG K845BT's!  That sucks though that the HP50's didn't work out for you.  I had similar...

I'm still in the process of getting acquainted with the sound signature of the XS because I have only had it for a couple of days.  First impression of the XS: LOUD!!  I can't get over how much sound comes out of such a small headphone.  For the past hour I did a very quick comparison between...

That pretty much sums up my experience with the M-100's.  I prefer the sound signature of the V-Moda XS.  The XS has deep bass/punch, just not so much of it that it overpowers the midrange.  My only minor gripe with the XS is the treble is slightly soft.

I wouldn't be too concerned about what side the cable goes on if you intend to buy the K845BT.  The K845BT can be paired with Blue Tooth (wireless) devices.

You can't go wrong with the NAD VISO HP50.  I own both the H6 and the HP50.  Between the two, the HP50 is a better value.  You could easily afford to buy a hard carrying case with the money you would be save buying the HP50.  Also the HP50 has more of the sound signature you are looking for...

I am also intrigued by the Focal Classics.  Unfortunately I have not been able to audition them yet.  The nearest authorized reseller is almost 100 miles from where I live.  I would make the trip but I am still waiting for them to be in stock.

The eq was set on Spoken Word when I auditioned the H6 at the Apple Store. The bass sounded a little thin but the mids and highs sounded very clear and distinct after I turned off the eq.
