Moderating serious threads
Controversy generates interest and that's why flames persist. It's also why I cease to be interested when they do. Rather than get upset over some low-level thread that seeks its morsels of ire like a bottom-feeder scanning the ocean floor, I find it best to start another thread. If only...- Tweertinelle

After the Ash-white Wind: A Reprise (9/11)
My god, the tone of this thread is still intact. Think of this as a slim strand of empathy that remained free of sentimentality and bickering throughout 9/11 II. Miraculous? Not really. We should do it more often. Real empathy isn't just a matter of feeling sad or identifying with...- Tweertinelle

Jaton PSD7611K: best cheap multi-region player for audio?
Grinch, my embryo-pard: I do know about the Sampo machines, which read anything and are great for DIY (putting in a hard drive, for example). Still, their stretchy PAL conversion is a known issue and would mar my Eurotrash film marathons (current favorites: _Death Laid an Egg_, by Julio Questi...- Tweertinelle

Jaton PSD7611K: best cheap multi-region player for audio?
I'm looking for an unproblematic multi-region DVD player that does PAL to NTSC conversion without stretching the image and outputs 24-bit/96k. Does anyone know anything about the new Jaton PSD7611K? Supposedly, it does everything better than the Malata n996 (except x-y scaling) and is twice...- Tweertinelle

Tangent's META42 headphone amplifier Review
Really inclusive review, Kelly. You even offered provoking suggestions for the future of the META. Magazine reviewers try to do that with new gear (i.e., devices, not British heroin) and often succeed on the rhetorical level. But on the technical level, they're usually spinning fiction. I...- Tweertinelle

just got my Ety ER-6's and I HATE them: am I crazy?
. . . unless you consider me to be bonkers as well, Big Red. See my Sun-Dried Bison Deposits thread for corroborating testimony -- finding it with the Head-fi search engine should be bracingly simple. Listen, if Don, pro-*fesh*-uh-nal rep of Etymotics, finds it impossible to get a...- Tweertinelle

Where can I find more eye-wateringly foul-sounding earbuds?
Recently, I received an e-mail (see below) from an individual who seemed interested in purchasing the worst earbuds possible for the largest amount of money. She seemed not to be interested in buying from an individual (I tried that already) but rather from a retail vendor or established...- Tweertinelle

Audio-Technica ATH-W100 Loaner/Critique Program
My god, what a dashing figure piano black must have cut at the post orifice, that stitched smile warping under the wind of the overhead fan. I have no idea why s/he was overtaken by this seizure of altruism (though one of PB's alternate personalities could be a Marxist data processor), but boy...- Tweertinelle

Any MD Recorder Mac Compatable?
Quote: Originally posted by Badtz for studio purposes...... would recording with a MD & transferring to the pc/mac yield acceptable sound quality? It depends on what you're doing. For bootlegs, and for certain kinds of field and foley recordings, most MD-Rs would be fine (but...- Tweertinelle

Invitation to a Viscous Eye-punt
My father, nephew, longtime companion, deceased mule train, Uncle Nard, Androgynocuspidoor and I are honored to invite you-all to a spirited eye-punting tournament: Two-fisted Winkless Taxidermy Tough-off 2002. Any MD Recorder Mac Compatable?
Actually, both iTunes and Audion can distort if you don't set the Sound Control Panel at around 50-60 percent and keep your mp3 player within the same range or less. Another good side effect of keeping the master volume lower: Your ears won't flee to Yonkers when Ye Olde G4 restarts. (I was just...- Tweertinelle

Thanks for the exceptionally kind queue-bump, PB. As you doubtless realize, I PM'ed you immediately after reading your post. How much you spend on audio ought to be proportional to... (add your own)
Master Bloggs is making the correct audiophile move by only listening to music for a few hours a day. I myself spend all my waking hours listening to music, writing it, tracking it or practicing it. Any comments/review on the ATH-A100Ti?
Girly shade of blue, you say? Interesting. Tell me, do you feel that Senn 600s are a more *virile* shade of blue, or does the answer involve wearing Equinox support? Do you regard the wooden surfaces of W100s as girly or buff? Which headphones do you feel best express your manly burly...- Tweertinelle

Any MD Recorder Mac Compatable?
I presume you're talking about the possibility of hanking NetMD with a Mac, in which case, fellow G-pard, be advised that the only avenue is to use Sony software under Windows emulation. Lots of apps do emu and, these days, strapping young Lextek, most can be found in hacked form. That's all...- Tweertinelle

Why didn't you tell me ER-6s chewed sun-dried bison droppings?
(Dear Pudenda 500: Please refrain from referring to the ER-6 as "stubby." It has already developed a shape complex due to our massive preference for the older and more virile ER-4. Henceforth the ER-6 must be referred to as "girthy" in order to restore its ear insertion esteem.) I'm so very...- Tweertinelle
