What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
On the USB Type-C - USB Type-B cables... Oyaide (Japanese ) makes a great looking one in their well-built D+ series. Only the regular copper for now it seems ( no 102SSC yet their crazy-made replacement for OCC ) but their eye pattern is rock solid within the D+ series. It's what I would use...- nick n

Did you try to suck on the earbuds? I am not joking = often the driver diaphragms can get distorted by changes in altitude during shipping and dent up. ( voice coil is attached to the diaphragms so that can get funny also.... ) Carefully lightly sucking on them can undo those dents. It's free...- nick n

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
Glad to see there is still talk of Wagner, Ring Cycle and CD's here :) It's the first place I thought of! Just grabbed the remastered version of Immortal Performances Box set of their Dream Ring Cycle. = http://immortalperformances.org/documents.php?d=5 Anyone else familiar with it? Seems...- nick n

Part of the quoted section above, about the ECR-800 needs some additional clarification. The Sony engineers didn't simply guess the brown cable sounded better than a black equivalent cable. They knew it did, from direct testing and listening trials. Their thinking about why it did sound...- nick n

^ Great to see. I like the holes punched in the damping pad. Found it to be a great fine-tuning method after you get the bulk done, depending on the damping layer.- nick n

Apples to oranges but as far as vocal presentation only, it seems these are close/equal/better to the fullsized JVC HA-MX100 series ? Wow. Will have a peek at your review, thanks for the impressions.- nick n

You could do a sort of mini chamber of damping directly on the rears of the drivers to make a double room. Speaking about the Beyer housings of course and the low end stuff. Had decent success with a couple mods in a large housing with that method. Pretty sure I used a ring / collar of...- nick n

What was the final conclusion about the TH500 driver diaphragm, were the traces actually slightly different than T50Mk2 ? Or was it simply the new addition of the rear damping removal on one grid section. Have lost track I recall some conversation about that ages ago resulting from a Fostex...- nick n

@Philimon did you ever see @takato14 's NAD to modern Fostex headband mod? Maybe it was a modern Denon headband assembly. Either way really classy mod.- nick n

Thanks @JadeEast , good to know. I don't have the same problems with the HP-50 variants or YHE50 or YHD-2. Tried a direct swap of the really good HP50( A/S ) mod to the HP-1 and no way is it the same. So I had to back off a lot on direct driver sorbo, and a few other things. My trouble was the...- nick n

the addition of the silicone blob sticky feet things should also add some damping/resonance control to the housing = a win win situation.- nick n

Interesting set of 3 posts from 500 posts ago about variations in these Yamaha drivers, possibly the result of changed manufacturer tensioning, and perceptions on driving them with different amplifiers. Ludoo, leeperry and dBel. Of note for me is the Ludoo post where he mentions damping tipping...- nick n

^ When I saw those I think they mentioned in the listing there was only one set available. Same with the red ones. So count yourself lucky :) Too bad they don't list more of some things, they obviously sell them. I do wish stuff from Indonesia was a bit easier to source over here in North...- nick n

One other thing before I forget. I still keep an eye on the MyST iso/ortho headphones, and in the course of looking up some other things on player.ru and lossy.ru I noticed a post by " Snorry " the well known modder from over there, so I checked out his website again and there are 3 models...- nick n

There is one foam I forgot about you might want to try. It is very thin yet dense, good for troublesome mod sonics and /or physically limited space areas etc. Only problem is it costs a bit to get because you can only find it included with the Bose Aviation headset headphone replacement earpads...- nick n
