Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Hi; Apologies if this has been covered before. My Sony WM1Z doesn't quite have enough oomph for these. What portable solutions are folks enjoying with the D8000? Thanks- Ricky64

Boulder 812 Preamp/Headphone Amp/Dac
Hi; I don't know that I could tell you the exact characteristics of this piece based on my audition; I plan on going back and listening further. I do know that this is a company that has established their reputation by competing successfully at the highest level of 2 channel audio (individual...- Ricky64

Boulder 812 Preamp/Headphone Amp/Dac
Hi All; I had a chance to play with this high end piece of kit, as I live locally. I'd been passing their building for years, and decided recently to call them and stop by for a tour. Boulder Amp has been in the upper echelons of the 2 channel world for years. This piece is around $8K, so it's...- Ricky64

SONY IER-Z1R
Hi; I have both of these. I wind up carrying the Trios in my briefcase. It is stunning how good they sound out of my iphone, and I use them to listen to music on the go, and for phone calls. I keep the Z1R's at my bedside out of a Sony 1Z. My condensed thougths: -They are both quite good -The...- Ricky64

CLOSED to NEW - See AudioTiers in my Signature: US Head-Fi Tour: VISION EARS ELYSIUM vs. VE8 vs. ERLKöNIG TOTL CIEM Tour - Starting November 2019
Hi everyone; Thanks so much to @Barra for putting these tours together. I had my chance to compare these two, and it was very informative. I own a 64 Tia Trio and a Sony Z1R. My listening preferences are wide ranging, but likely come down to hard bop jazz and female vocals. I do listen to...- Ricky64

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
I do wonder, though, whether an IEM crossover can work well enough to allow a smooth transition without destructive bleed over or phase incoherencies to get the bass/lower midrange right, in such tight confines? I wonder if the answer is an almost full range DD coupled with a non BA tweeter? (I...- Ricky64

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
This is very interesting, thanks for sharing. For me, the penultimate achievement in audio is attaining warmth and midrange thickness while not sacrificing inner detail and spatial cues. It seems difficult to achieve, due to driver limitations and phase incoherencies. I feel the Sony Z1R...- Ricky64

Aminus hates everything (Or, Aminus rants and reviews stuff)
Good review. I currently own these, the Z1R, and the Final e5000. Between the Trio and Z1R, I like the Trio's chestier lower midrange, which helps make Coltrane's tenor more realistic and full. I feel the Trio is tipped upward in the upper midrange and treble, to add excitement and imaging. The...- Ricky64

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
Decided to put this up as a new thread. I have the D8000 headphone and the E5000's. I am hoping the A8000 captures the "warmth with transparency and detail" that I find in the D8000 in an iem format. I have the ZIR and Tia Trio, both lovely in their own ways but not quite capturing what I love...- Ricky64

Agree. My trio sounds outstanding out of my iPhone. I also use it with my 1z when flying. Most of the time, though, I keep it in my briefcase and use it on the go.- Ricky64

SONY IER-Z1R
My current stable is the Z1R on my bedstand, and the Tia Trio in my briefcase. The latter does amazingly well with Tidal straight out of my phone (need foam tips, though, to keep it in balance).- Ricky64

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
Ahhh... I like this list much more than Babymetal. Check out Miles Davis Steps to Heaven, and John Coltrane's Crescent. I'm currently alternating between the Z1R (I apparently like this better than you...I think it is outstanding for hard bop jazz) and the 64 Tia Trio. Very curious about a...- Ricky64
