Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private
Ah, didn't see that, thanks. I was looking at the new 400gb cards, originally I used three 160gb iPod classics but it was getting a bit absurd because I'd have to pick which third of my music I was taking out for each trip. I'm an officer on a merchant oil tanker that spends a lot of time at...- amidsttundra

Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private
Out of interest, does the XDP-30R have a track limit? I take my music to sea and it's currently stored in several 200gb microSD cards, I use a FiiO X5 but the maximum sync is about 30,000 tracks before it won't sync. Subsequently I only ever use the one SD port, would be good if I could load...- amidsttundra

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
I'm not wholly surprised by that. What I was thinking was keeping my shuffle so that any time I rip or download music I can format it through the iPod, then back it up using a program called CopyTrans that I have been using for years just in case my iPods are damaged/lost. In that way, not only...- amidsttundra

The Fiio X5 Thread
Ha, cool idea. I was planning on organising by genres. I have zillions of playlists built around genres, labels, bands country of origin. So I'm sure I could make something of that. I'm a big death metal fan, black metal and doom/sludge is the vast majority of my collection in terms of file...- amidsttundra

FIIO OTG Support Thread
Just another question, do you think it could handle the same setup with higher capacity microSD's on board? Like the San Disk 200gb MicroSD's + the Integral SSD? That'd be an insane amount of capacity, but probably troublesome parsing down files to meet the 5,800 file limit...- amidsttundra

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
I'm not really looking for a player that can read all 90k files as I expect they'll be split over several microSD's. I do wonder why other DAP's have such limits when the iPod can read up to 40k, the problem with the iPod is there's no way to simply transition files unlike the iBasso or FIIO...- amidsttundra

FIIO OTG Support Thread
Eh, I was expecting to make compromises. The bottomline is I work at sea and 3 iPod 160GB's mean I have to pick which selection of music I take and have discographies split over devices which isn't great. I was looking at the rather neat solution you had or the iBasso DX80. Most of my...- amidsttundra

FIIO OTG Support Thread
Ah, is it possible to select which firmware you upgrade to? I'm a big music shuffler and the 5,800 file limit is making me leery. I'm guessing it won't even shuffle through the SSD? How does it not scanning into the library affect it? Do you just have to be quite discerning about folder...- amidsttundra

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
Actually, many of the tracks are sub 1-2 minutes in length. Second they've been parsed down to 192kbps. The type of music I listen to is rarely aided by lossless files. Let me state one thing. Each of my iPod 160gb's stores over 22000 tracks, I have three. So I already have 66,000 tracks...- amidsttundra

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
Just started looking at the iBasso DX80 as an alternative to my fleet of 160GB iPod classics (I have three of them). Wondering what kind of maximum storage capacity the iBasso can handle? I've read 2tb somewhere, but I find that unlikely given the current industry limitations. My current...- amidsttundra

The Fiio X5 Thread
What's the maximum capacity anybody is getting out of the X5 since Fiio abandoned OTG support? I currently have over 90,000 files (not lossless) I'd like to shift onto a single player or at least a fleet of more portable microSD's as I work at sea and I'm fed up of picking which iPod I take with...- amidsttundra

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread
I've turned this over to the main forum as I needed a single post to have thread starting rights. Very dissapointed that they have abandoned OTG support altogether. While 400gb is a great capacity it wouldn't be enough to get my whole music collection onto one device without having to switch...- amidsttundra

Best High Capacity PSG: FiiO X5/X3 or Lootoo Paw 5000
I'm looking for some advice. I have been considering the above three devices for some months now. I currently own three iPod 160gb classics but I'm looking to replace with a singular unit as I work at sea and it is not practical to keep transporting three players, especially as I now have almost...- amidsttundra

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread
I'm currently trying to decide whether to purchase the X5, X3 or the Lootoo Paw 5000. My primary concern is capacity. I'd like to make as much of my collection as portable as possible. I know right now that the highest capacity microSD available is the SanDisk 200GB, I also read the X5 has some...- amidsttundra

Best High Capacity Solution to Replace Fleet of 160gb iPod Classics?
It's an option and a price that certainly can't be sniffed at. However, I'd be interested to see how it handles 400gb of music with that interface. For me, I like being able to see the album artwork and shuffle the songs. I've read a couple of reviews about this product and noticed that neither...- amidsttundra

Best High Capacity Solution to Replace Fleet of 160gb iPod Classics?
I hadn't, but that seems a fairly preferable alternative. Do you know anything about the Sata version? How easy was it to do? My only concern would be canning my iPod!- amidsttundra

Best High Capacity Solution to Replace Fleet of 160gb iPod Classics?
Yeah, I'm looking at the second gen X5. I was specifically wondering if it would be able to take two SanDisk 200gb micro SDs? I read on the dedicated forum someone was using a single 200gb card, is there a limit at which point the device starts locking up? I would love to create a mega mp3...- amidsttundra

Best High Capacity Solution to Replace Fleet of 160gb iPod Classics?
I currently own three, 160gb iPod Classics, and I am looking to replace them with a higher capacity DAP. I've primarily been researching the FiiO x5 and the Lotoo PAW 5000. I've read the Lotoo PAW has the potential to scale up to 2tb in the future, although I believe the largest SDXC currently...- amidsttundra
