Unfortunately it seems that the implementation of high-end chips used in the 005 is wrong and the analog stage is too weak for the 2 x ess9038.

You could lower the level to 1.5v by using the digital volume control built-in ess9038.

Really nice done DAC, I see improvement over the 004.

Both LDOs are for the clock to provide the lowest noise voltage.

Probably it was the AKM spdif receiver.

The inductors are in my opinion the most difficult part to replace with the soldering iron. I will leave it as it is and only replace LM317s to LDOs + new FPCAPS. I hope it will be a good compromise.
