SONY NW-ZX500
At first, I thought the official video was fan mashup when I saw the circular chin, USB-C on the side and support for Android. Not sure how I feel about this (yet), though I'm glad Sony is fleshing out its lineup.- Newtype2011

The Sony 40th Anniversary Walkman Thread
Yes, the design looked a little too amateurish, IMHO. I also don't see how this type of utility device would benefit from having a 2.5D screen. I think it's safe to see many would prefer durability over the limited benefit of a flowing screen.- Newtype2011

SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A
I'm eagerly awaiting for it to officially drop, but, now that it's taken so long, I'm honestly considering getting another (used) PHA-3 and calling it a day. Not sure what I'll end up doing.- Newtype2011

New Sony PHA-2A portable DAC
...why did Sony not honor the warranty? Along with the overall sonic experience, post-sale support on any device should always be factored into the buying decision. I eagerly await your impressions.- Newtype2011

Shure 530 Repair: $240 USD
Well, I'm finally getting around repairing some old 530s. I just got off the phone with Shure, and they said since they've been discontinued, it will cost a $240. I didn't even have a chance to tell him what was damaged -- he just blurted out it will be $240 USD as if he didn't even want to deal...- Newtype2011

The death of the DAP?
Apple (and other companies) are moving away from dedicated DAPs because the money is no longer in the simple sale of music. Over the years, app stores and ebook stores have grown in popularity, hence more of a focus on larger, touch screen devices.- Newtype2011

Best Portable MiniDisc
I still have this and I'll never forget: I saved up about $250 and blew the whole wad on this when I started high school many, many moons ago. It's built like a tank, and it runs on one AA battery -- not to mention the battery compartment can charge a battery within the unit as well...- Newtype2011

MP3 phones: worth bothering? best model?
W995 has gotten terrible reviews when compared to other phones in its price range (N86, Innov8, etc)...I would try to pick up an N96, an old N81, an iPhone, or like many have said, go with a basic phone and then put the rest towards a dedicated player. Further, the W995 is extremely...- Newtype2011

Is the zune any good
I loved my Zune 30... ...up until it randomly died on me several months ago. I personally think the interface was cleaner and much easier to navigate than an iPod Classic, and the sound, like many have mentioned, was absolutely top-notch. If the Zune SW supported Last.FM, it would...- Newtype2011
