not just you, as far as I can gether, nobody could. even in exclusive-mode, the stream data seems to always go through the windows mixer using the sampling rate and bit depth set for non-exclusive mode in the sound control panel. There are a lot of discussions on the web that you read up on...

Based on what I have read so far... it doesn't look like there is a way to bypass the windows mixer using the Amazon Music app. Given that's the case, maybe take a look at the link below. It seems setting the windows mixer to 24/192 can push whatever the deficiencies introduced by the mixers...

I'm actually not sure "using it correctly" is the point. Does it make any difference to your ears whether NOS ON or OFF? Are you happy with your current setting? :) If you are happy now and if I were you, I wouldn't change a damn thing :)

@GoldenOne is definitely the best. I actually bought X26 pro because of the reviews from him and Soundnews. I was just going with the user's guide which seemed to match my prior understanding As PC performance continues to evolve and the performance of oversampling digital filter algorithms...

I use NOS Mode "ON" on my X26 Pro. it's not that my windows mixer + Amazon Music (my source) is a better upsampler, it's that I have to upsample the digital data within the PC before USB and X26 Pro. No point to repeat that upsampling process at the DAC. My X26 Pro sounds amazing with NOS "ON"

I would take a step further to argue that Hifiman has made many attempts in effect to make a 35-ohm, 106 dB-sensitivity version of Susvara at a lower price point (I'm using Focal Stellia numbers here) and has yet to produce a success or a near success.

iCAN Signature has an iPower Elite included which is retailed for $300. Put that aside the Signature is not that more expensive than iCAN Pro

I have a Susvara which has comparable specs (60 ohm, 83 dB). I'm extremely happy with the iCAN Signature. I also don't think the amp is expensive compared to the alternatives out there and compared with the SQ and options (XBASS, Tube, etc) I'm getting
