The HD598 bass is actually not that "bad". I don't consider it recessed at all. It's present for sure, and for the really epic trance intros it sounds freakin fantastic with the wide soundstage.  That being said, if you want impactful bass, consider the DT770, DT990, V-Moda Lp2, V Moda M100...
