Ahh thanks. Sorry, that was a typo, meant to say it DOESN'T affect sound or functionality. Not a big deal if it can be easily remedied.- LiSAuCE

Sennheiser HD 439 good all round headphones?
Yeah I have the 439 and while they MIGHT look/feel cheap, they definitely don't sound like 30 dollar headphones. I've used these for a while before I upgraded and they have good clarity. The bass I thought was initially lacking, but with a very simple tape mod posted here (i'll try to dig it...- LiSAuCE

Rank the Headphones that You Own.
This is tough. 1. Sennheiser HD598 - Bass is not as recessed as I thought it would be. Highs and mids are fantastic. Soundstage obviously very wide and good. A very relaxing, non fatiguing, enveloping headphone. Some slight sibilance, I expect this to get better with burn in. I'm only...- LiSAuCE

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
The HD598 bass is actually not that "bad". I don't consider it recessed at all. It's present for sure, and for the really epic trance intros it sounds freakin fantastic with the wide soundstage. That being said, if you want impactful bass, consider the DT770, DT990, V-Moda Lp2, V Moda M100...- LiSAuCE

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Quote: Hey, I have the V-Moda M80s AND I just go the HD598, literally 30 minutes from UPS :))) I may be able to help you out a little bit. The V-Moda M80's are a little uncomfortable at first, but once the memory foam ear cushions adapt to your ears (trust me, I was...- LiSAuCE

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Ordered these for Christmas! Should get here by Monday. Thought it was a great deal for 199 off amazon. Really excited! My V moda M80s are great for pretty much anything, especially electronic music, but I wanted something for acoustic stuff (acoustic is a BROAD term encompassing piano, ac...- LiSAuCE

I've heard real good things about the aurvana lives, and they get pretty cheap on Amazon. from what I hear they have great non overpowering bass. though honestly op if u can save and squeeze the v MODA m80 would be excellent for you. 150 on Amazon and they do EVERYTHING well but ESPECIALLY rap...- LiSAuCE

V-MODA Crossfade M-80 Reviews
Okay. cool. For those that sent them in, did it fix the "problem". This is important as it'll determine whether i'll send them in :p If not then I'll take comfort knowing it's not just me/ a defection Thanks! It's not glaring, just barely noticeable, especially in metal. most likely my...- LiSAuCE

V-MODA Crossfade M-80 Reviews
Does anyone get a slight emphasis on the left ear can? Is cuz of the cable plugging to the left? I find bass and vocals to be slightly emphasized to the left. I can't tell if its the headphones or my ears..- LiSAuCE

Sennheiser HD439 review
Just wanted to add: For those who want more bass out of these, try this very easy mod: http://www.head-fi.org/a/sennheiser-hd4-8-modding-for-newbies It really enhances the bass without drowning out the other frequencies. I recommend covering the middle and "back" holes, for those who've read...- LiSAuCE

Creative aurvana live vs sennheiser hd 439 vs shure srh 440
I disagree. I like the HD439's a lot and I listen to a good variety of genre's Don't really know what other people say, but these headphones are awesome. Good bass, great mids and highs. I listen to metal, acoustic, edm, dubstep and rap. Unless you are a hard basshead then these are...- LiSAuCE

A good gaming headset?
Buy a quality headphone and cheap 10 dollar zalman clip on mic. Gaming headsets have poorer sound quality and are sort of one dimensional.- LiSAuCE

I have the 439's too! First "not crappy" headphone. Love it! Debated whether to buy an amp but my Ipod touch is just able to drive these. I disagree slightly about the isolation. I feel it could be better but I ordered leather pads so we'll see if that changes anything. All in all a...- LiSAuCE

DAC or AMP, which one?
I c now. So this is why when they tell you to look at output power from sources, they tell you to look at the output level at your headphones impedance. This is so you can determine current and then average power. You then compare SPL to determine how loud the headphone can be. So if you really...- LiSAuCE

DAC or AMP, which one?
So all you guys said makes sense. Thanks a lot. I just checked my ear bud impedance. It was 16 while my headphone impedance is 32. Now I'm a little confused. So high impedance headphones (> 100) need to be driven by amps with higher VOLTAGES not IMPEDANCES and lower impedance headphones...- LiSAuCE

DAC or AMP, which one?
I c. That makes a lot of sense. I'll continue to enjoy these headphones for now without an amp or until g.a.s. gets me. For now I'll just keep on cranking the volume louder than usual. Thank you- LiSAuCE

DAC or AMP, which one?
This brings it back to proton's original question, do i have to turn up the volume way high to get acceptable listening levels, no matter what level of ambient noise. The answer is YES- LiSAuCE

DAC or AMP, which one?
@eric: I'm not sure if you read above. When comparing these to previous listening device (earbuds), I have to turn up the volume to get the same level. These are QUIETER than my earbuds. So either I need an amp to properly drive these, or my earbuds are just loud, or I just need to...- LiSAuCE

And I'm pretty set on getting an amp lol I've heard numerous reports that getting one improves the sound of these headphones a lot. And if I can't tell the difference I can return it or keep it in case I need it later.- LiSAuCE
