Question About Channel Imbalances in Amps

They are both Xduoo XD-05 amps. The one with the channel imbalance is the silver and black model, while the one without is all black (if that's relevant, as the QC could be different, despite the only difference being color.) And there is no (audible) noise at that position, just a channel...

Question About Channel Imbalances in Amps

I have two identical amps, but one of them has a channel imbalance when I turn the volume knob to approximately 10 o'clock, but disappears at any other volume setting; however, this problem didn't exist when I first bought it; what is the most likely cause of this issue?

I would, but I'm still new to rewiring and circuits, so I don't want to ruin them.

    MC vs MM Phono Cartridges

I've been trying to decide between getting a phono preamp (so I can use MC cartridges with my turn table) and just getting a good MM cartridge. Are MC cartridges really that much better than a similarly priced MM cartridge to justify the cost of getting a phono preamp to be able to use them...

Thoughts on developing an open-source diy headphone chassis

I'll need to think about it, but the designs of the HD558/598, Verum One, and anything from HIFIMAN, are inspirations for me. The HD558/598 gave me the idea for angled cups and strategic driver placement, Verum for some aspects of my hypothetical headband (I'm optimizing his design), and HIFIMAN...

Is soundstage actually detrimental to spatial audio?

I know a rule of thumb that goes something like: "If a soundwave travels down a tube longer than its 1/4 wavelength, it gets amplified." Could you be thinking of that?

Thoughts on developing an open-source diy headphone chassis

As someone who was trying to do something like this myself, I can very much get behind this idea.

Is soundstage actually detrimental to spatial audio?

This thread definitely reminds me of the Torvalds/Tannenbaum debate. If this is the first time that this has happened in this sub-forum, this is historic.

    DTS Headphone:X v2.0 Impressions

Interesting observation. You wouldn't think there'd be much of a difference between devices.

Can 16Bit/48kHz be considered as aptX HD level? (re: Avantree DG60)

Isn't 16 bit/48kHz beyond the capabilities of what AptX HD can losslessly reproduce, anyway?

Why does Tidal sound better to my ears?

I had no idea they were different. I looked on Hydrogen Audio after reading this, and it seems that LAME added VBR support to MP3?

Why does Tidal sound better to my ears?

You can set Opus' target bit rate all the way up to 512 kbps, but it can theoretically to all the way up to the bitrate of the original recording if needed, via VBR

Why does Tidal sound better to my ears?

https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality With this test, I can consistently hear the difference between 192 and 256 kbps MP3, with sightly less consistency between 320kbps. I can't hear the difference between uncompressed Wave and MP3 320...

    Audiocheck.net frequency response tests

Expressing volume in terms of percentage doesn't really tell us much; although, it does tell us you're probably pluggin your headphones directly into the front of the PC. Have you tried using the port in the back? Magnetic fields from PC components add a lot of noise to the front I/O.

    Audiocheck.net frequency response tests

That's actually uncommon but not abnormal. And you're conclusion about the latter case seems sensible.

    A Couple of Hypotheses

I never heard of the Sennheiser Veil until after using the Sennheiser HD 6xx and finding that rock music sounded "muffled", so I looked it up. I haven't noticed it with other Senns, and I quickly got used to it. I don't even see it as a veil anymore.

Now I understand; you were talking about the sensation of the bass, rather than how low it goes according to the spec sheet. My bad.
