Quicksilver Headphone Amplifier
Up for sale is a Quicksilver Headphone Amplifier. I got this unit in a trade last month. However, it doesn't quite fit in my setup, so I have to let this one go. This amp is very well regarded, lots of positive reviews around. It also has the benefit of being transformer coupled, making it...- Kevin.T

Quicksilver Audio Headphone Amplifier any opinions?
Hey guys, just wanted to give a quick update on this "left channel hum'" issue I had. It was actually a blown resistor in the amp! I did a lot of troubleshooting, including bringing the amp to another building. I got the very same hum in the other building. That's when I figured it had to be...- Kevin.T

My USB DAC occasionally cuts off the first half-second of audio (Windows 10)
Well, it plays fine in MusicBee. I only had the gap happen in Foobar. In any case, I think increasing the hardware buffer solved it: in five plays, I've not had it happen once (and it used to happen almost every time, at least once during the playthrough). Another quick update: since my mobo...- Kevin.T

My USB DAC occasionally cuts off the first half-second of audio (Windows 10)
It happens with local files also, using MusicBee and Foobar2000. In Foobar, I can add 500ms preroll silence to mitigate this very effectively, but the gapless transition thing I mentioned happened while I was playing an album in Foobar.- Kevin.T

My USB DAC occasionally cuts off the first half-second of audio (Windows 10)
I'm having a weird issue using external USB DACs on my PC (Windows 10): I occasionally get a half-second audio cutoff when starting an audio file. For example: when starting a YouTube video (will miss the first word if it starts right away with dialogue), or starting a song (will miss the first...- Kevin.T

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
It seems I've started to run into the dreaded headband disintegrating. :frowning2: The outer edges of the faux-suede (underside) have started flaking, leaving tiny black residues on anything it rests on (head, hands, headphone stand). Fortunately, the flat part of the underside is still fine for...- Kevin.T

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)
My first thinking was the headphone cable being the culprit. But then, you mention the issue happens on both the balanced and SE outputs of your amp. Are you saying you have two different cables for your Sundara, and this issue happens with both of them? Or is it the same cable, with an adapter?- Kevin.T

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
@DW75 , I'm running a slightly modified version of your EQ with my Ori pads, and I must say I like very much what I'm hearing! The only difference is instead of reducing 500Hz by 3.5 dB, I reduce that band by only 1 dB. Might be the lambskin leather of my Ori's not pushing that region as much as...- Kevin.T

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Ah, thanks for the term ! I can do a bit of research. I had a feeling this wasn't totally abnormal because I also experienced it occasionally with my LCD-2F. Only difference is it happened with the stock (leather) pads on the Audeze, whereas it only happens with the replacement pads on the...- Kevin.T

Audeze 'Prototype-Z' headband lives?!
Well, there's been speculation that it might be possible to pay to upgrade the headband when ordering the older headphones. If there's still time in your case, it might be worth it to contact Audeze about that.- Kevin.T

Audeze 'Prototype-Z' headband lives?!
We don't know the price yet. The headband is supposed to be available in mid-December, so we're only a few days away from finding out. However, consider that the default leather headband is 100$ as a standalone purchase : I can't see the new headband being sold at the same price since it's...- Kevin.T

Head-Fi Meet Downtown Montreal 2015 AUGUST 30TH DATE CONFIRMED
Well, since I don't have a ride, I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it at the Brossard location. I really don't want to lug around cumbersome equipment on public transit for hours. :/- Kevin.T

Moving away from my K701s to..
I started with the K701, then bought the HD600 and sold the K701 a few months later. It wasn't even a hard fight either, the HD600 was just plain better to my ear. Personally, I thought the HD600 sounded much more "real": More even frequency spectrum (more bass impact and better midrange)...- Kevin.T

Cayin Audio HA-1A Tube Rolling
BUMP! I recently bought this unit, and coupled with the HD600, I am finding the bass a little too prominent and the treble slightly rolled off which creates a very heavy and warm sound (fantastic body and midrange though!) I am looking for new tubes (affordable preferably) in order to have a...- Kevin.T

Similar to HD600 but slightly less bass-prominent?
I've recently bought a Cayin HA-1A tube amp to pair with my HD600 (source: Rega Apollo), and I find that the Sennheiser headphone is now slightly too bass-prominent coupled with the tube amp; I used to drive them off a Corda Headfive, with which I was already starting to notice a slight bass...- Kevin.T

First Head-Fi official corporate meet in Montreal impressions
I had a good time yesterday. I met a bunch of nice and laid back people who let you try their equipment without hesitation. It's good, because people like me who are starting out and have no point of reference to choose headphones from can really use that. I would've liked to see more brands...- Kevin.T
