    Sennheiser CX300-II or CX475 earphones?

Yes, the K701 is quite laid back and almost the opposite of the SR225i. If you're short on budget/or if stuff is more expensive in the UK, get them off the forums here and see if anyone in the US will ship to UK.    In terms of cheaper IEM's that suit that sound signature, I really don't know...

What music to test headphones out?

You use garageband, it's pretty easy if you have a mac. Otherwise multiple applications on a PC can do it for you, with free editing software. Then combine the tracks into a single track as stated above. That's pretty smart actually, never really thought of that myself.   What you do is you...

What music to test headphones out?

Sound card? Bypass that and get a decent DAC or something, connected via USB or Toslink. Even a cheap dragonfly would help.

HURRY!!! Pls help me to CHOOSE!!! HD218i or CX300?

Shure SE115-GR, though its only $49 in the states. PX200 is also a good option, but most people prefer the PX100 (a classic, truly good). Is the PX200-II or PX200 (same with the 100's, is it PX100-II or PX100)? The original version is better...

    Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers

Does anyone know how to A/B test tubes? (well actually this is a really stupid question.) It's not like with headphones where you just plug them in. You have to cool/reheat for 5 minutes and plug those damn hot things out. Unless you get 2 LYR's :P

    Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers

Thanks! Appreciate the reply. Crap I bought the wrong tubes apparently. Such a newb to tube rolling. So the PCC189 will suck in my LYR?     I found this quote earlier in the thread:   QUOTE: [I had some luck with Telefunken pcc189s, tubes in this series may be hit or miss but they do work...

QUICK 6922 TUBE EQUIVALENT QUESTION -- SCHIIT LYR Telefunken PCC189 work with my LYR?

Will a pair of NOS Telefunken PCC189 work with my LYR? I misread ECC88 as E88CC, can anyone explain the difference?

    Inexpensive Custom IEM's?

Rob does a great job and provides great service... reshelled my TF10's beautifully and for cheap, though I suggest going to a $50 professional audiologist and not using the kit he provides (it's not easy to make impressions of your own ears, well good ones at leasts). Long waitlist though, 5-8...

    Sub $100 UE-700 IEM replacement

Other recommendation: Reshell the UE700's. They're great headphones (especially when they were on amazon for $75 closeout), except for some sibilance on the high end. It'll cost about $110 + audiologist fee to reshell, which is the equivalent of buying a new IEM. And now you got custom IEM's...

Looking for advice on premium IEM headphones...

What's your budget? How much do the H3 and XBA-4 cost in Asia?    Definitely recommend the XBA H-3 based on your tastes. They have dynamic-BA hybrid drivers, which means better treble (BA drivers) and more bass (dynamic drivers, which you want). Just watch out for fakes, especially in Asia.  ...

New to tube rolling -- Schiit LYR Tubes?

Hi all,   I don't consider myself really a newb to the audio world, but I am when it comes to tube amps -- I've been using a combined Solid State DAC/AMP for the past 6 years..    A few questions:   1) Do tubes actually make a BIG difference (I know they make a difference, but how much?)...

    Sub $100 UE-700 IEM replacement

Shure has one of the best, if not, THE BEST warranty service in the audio world. Even if you break them (just don't say that you did), they'll expedite you a replacement ASAP, usually within 1.5 weeks. My SE420 broke a few years back and was still under their 2 year warranty, and they sent me...

Need help with open, over-ear headphones for heavy metal (Grado alternatives)

OH GAWD NOT THE THE SRH1440. JUST, NO. They aren't the SRH1840's, which are actually good. I have a SRH1440 and don't particularly care for it.   +1 for the DT880 (not 990), actually, 600-ohms if your amp can drive it. Don't get the "pro" version that is actually cheaper, get the "premium"...

Reply to review by 'gradofan1' on item 'Sennheiser Grado Hybrid a.k.a. SennGrado'

OH WOW. Great review. And beautiful headphones while at it too. Grado is one of those brands where expensive isn't necessarily better (i.e. PS500 > HF1 > SR225i in terms of performance to value ratio, imo; I'd take the PS500 over the PS1000 anyday, actually).    Instead of using the PX100ii's...

Official 2014 SF Head-Fi Meet Impressions Thread

Yeah.. as said, I lent half my gear to my friend since I couldn't make it myself (he was pissed I bailed out on him), but stomach flu > 1st headfi meet. There was so much gear in the room (electrical interference), probably hence a bit of static. It never does that at home when positioned...

AAARRGHH.... Had to miss this meet. Stupid stomach flu. (would've been my first meet too..) -- gave all my gear to my best friend who demoed 1/2 his stuff and 1/2 my stuff to fellow head-fi'ers... texted me pics and it looked cool and apparently it was pretty fun and interesting!   He failed...

    Best headphones under 400

The P5's look very slick, but speaking as someone who owns 2 pairs (idk why), you're overpaying for the design if you're buying new. They sound good at the $199 price range, not at their $299 MSRP. I'd buy a used pair off ebay if you're going that route, they're going pretty cheap apparently..

5.1 Compact System WITHOUT dedicated amplifier for Computer setup?

Uh if you read my first post -- I have an $8k-ish Martin Logan Electrostatic System set up stairs with a Yamaha AVR.. need something more compact in my own room, next to my computer and desk... currently using GLA-55's though ;D

Just Purchased HE-560 Headphones - Need Suggestions for sub $500 DAC/AMP

I might mention that it's a the Nuforce HDP is a DAC and an AMP -- 2 in 1, solid state. Many inputs and outputs, very powerful and occupies a small space. Drove my HD650's very well when I began this hobby.

Definitely a Nuforce HDP -- They use the same DAC chip Nuforce uses in their $1500 dedicated DAC's!
