Custom IEM (Westone) MMCX connectors vs. 2 Prong?
Hi All, I have to send my Westone ES5's in for service and noticed that they've updated their ES line to include an extra 0 after the model numbers and also that they're using the Shure style MMCX connectors now. While talking to the guy at Westone, I asked if they could swap out the 2...- Darwin022

Kickstarter: Headset without Speakers
I also saw this and became curious. I can't imagine it will sound GREAT in a loud environment, but better than nothing if you don't want to be fully isolated. I'm also not sure how good it would sound for music even in a quiet environment as a music device. The last time I had IEM...- Darwin022

RSA Predator DAC w/ iPhone? (it used to work)
OK, I could see a possibility of that. But, I'm still not sure it would work the setup I'm trying to use. I generally don't put any music at all on my iPad, as it's too big to be a personal music player. While I CAN easily put it in a pocket (I wear BDU pants daily), it's not something I...- Darwin022

RSA Predator DAC w/ iPhone? (it used to work)
Nice Pic :). I really do like the "all in one self contained unit" approach of the GoDAP, even if it means I'll need a new one later this year when I upgrade my iPhone 4S with whatever is next. You're very lucky to have them "right down the subway." I'd also gladly pay extra for whatever...- Darwin022

RSA Predator DAC w/ iPhone? (it used to work)
Thanks. The GoDAP is at the top of my list. However, the unfortunate part about having to ship it back to Japan (from the US) every time it needs a firmware update... isn't very appealing. If they have a way to self-update the firmware, I'll order one in a heartbeat.- Darwin022

RSA Predator DAC w/ iPhone? (it used to work)
Thanks for the reply, Justin. It makes perfect sense and seems to correspond with the error "The connected USB device requires too much power." as well as whatever Apple did to tweak the USB power settings. As for the iPhone + camera connection kit: I may have been mistaken, but I'm...- Darwin022

Any ideas when the next gen JHAudio customs will be out?
Well, I think it's time for a new pair of custom IEM's early next year. I've got a pair of JH13's now. Not saying that there is anything wrong with the current JH16 and I'd probably be very happy with them. However, my original pair of JH13's were in production when they released the JH16 for...- Darwin022

Potential DIY fix for preventing failure of Whiplash's TWag cables (and others)
Quote: Technically, t would be. However, I haven't really found any that are more reliable. The stock cables get nasty and deteriorate within 4-6 months. The Beat Audio one was a bit fragile. The problem is, I actually like the TWag cable while it works, I just want to make it...- Darwin022

ECLIPSE. The name of the NEW TWAG v2 black translucent wire!!
Oh yeah, an update. I still haven't received the replacement cable from Craig. Also, Craig: the Right+ conductor on this cable is dead again. Ground and Left+ are fine. Back to life in Mono. I would have brought it up sooner, but figured you'd have taken care of it with the...- Darwin022

ECLIPSE. The name of the NEW TWAG v2 black translucent wire!!
Quote: Hi Craig, You offered to send a replacement cable on 9/15/2011. It has not arrived yet (10/24/2011). I guess this sort of delay is to be expected at this point. Please provide an update. Thanks, - Sasha.- Darwin022

ECLIPSE. The name of the NEW TWAG v2 black translucent wire!!
Craig, For what it's worth, you may want to adjust the holes or finish on the wooden slider. I've only adjusted it ~20 times tops since Monday night and it's really abrading the jacket of the wire (taking off slices). Any suggestions on how to resolve that? oil? remove the slider? ...- Darwin022

My Apologies. Please read.
Quote: Thanks, they're Blacklight Blue transparent (blacklight reactive) JH13's. Yes, everything is sounding great so far, I've been putting both cables through their paces. The cable probably has about 30 hours on it so far.- Darwin022

My Apologies. Please read.
I received a reply fairly quickly after a heated PM to Craig on Aug 11th. He acknowledged that my cable was there and that he would include a bottom exit LOD with the repaired cable. I PM'd him back again today (23rd) and have not received any response yet. As a comparison, I decided to...- Darwin022

19 custom IEM/TF10/Shure/IE8 cables reviewed (Effect Pearl, Apollo, & Odin added 3/20/13)
Thanks for this review, Joe. Which of these yo you think will stand the test of time as far as durability against failure? I'm not rough on my equipment, but I use it all day every day. The stock cables seem to last a few months, 5-7 at BEST before developing faults/just going bad. I've just... -
JH IEM's developing cracks?
Quote: Agreed re: how thin and fragile they look. If it's just a matter of how much UV they give them at the first step (see video posted on first page), they can leave mine in as long as needed for the 'mil spec' thickness version . shigzeo: Yeah, it seems that way re...- Darwin022
