It should be since SUEX was based on an earlier stock with more problems this of course is theory I have no idea actually as both worked stable for me.- Yanec

The FW that you use has no effect on the way the 3 amp stages differ in sonic character so it doesn't matter. The fact that you have custom capacitors may be the reason while your experience differs. What I personally hear: low has the flattest sound character, mid gain adds more to the...- Yanec

You are welcome Joe! On SUEX I recommend FLAC only, IRR OFF, MID GAIN ...the EQ doesn't work anyway so no advice on turning it off this time:) Enjoy and remember to try more of your favorite vocal tracks on SUEX.- Yanec

But how could I answer if I didn't have the orthos and the DX50 at the same time? The DX50 is ok with the HE400i at high gain and max volume but far from loud. May sound strange but on the DX50 high gain delivers worse sonics compared to mid gain (especially the treble) so this is already a...- Yanec

It has a warm-up effect for several minutes in Dmitry's words so mind that before critical listening and enjoy! My personal findings are that SUEX is more dynamic yet analogue and undistorted than any other FW. It has less sibilant treble and by far the best mids - it makes vocals very...- Yanec

SUEX is reportedly buggy, but I had no problems in my case. A bug will take a restart or a fresh re-flash in worst case. Here you go with the authors comment: http://www.head-fi.org/t/679473/the-ibasso-dx50-thread-latest-firmware-1-9-2/15825#post_11149759 After flashing ALWAYS reset the system...- Yanec

Let me suggest - if you prefer 1.2.8 over SU 1.3.3 - you will probably enjoy the SUEX - it shares the 1.2.8 signature/character but is even more dynamic, with even better bass response and at the same time it is refined and more detailed without ever being sibilant. Please let us all know what...- Yanec

Hi! 1. It lacks in several departments to deliver top notch performance for classical music, but is very decent overall. It under-performs in: 1) sound stage and imaging 2) overall dynamics and textured low end. For example if I listen to the same recording through the DX50 and the Galaxy...- Yanec

iDSD combo - the iDSD micro arrived several days ago and is actively burning-in. Soon I will post some initial impressions on the DX50 - iDSD Micro combo and some comparison of the DX50 sound(using diff. FW) and the combo with iDSD micro.- Yanec

Thanks mate the new Panas sound promising and I might break the DX50 to change them and also the amp for a TI BB chip. By the way after such an upgrade I guess I'll have to switch from SUEX back to 1.3.3 as the bass will be just too much with the upgrade and SUEX.- Yanec

I guess I am lucky as I just checked and I am on SU EX - flashed it from the first time and use it with no trouble. What are the problems you have? My settings are FLAC/IIR off/Mid gain and I don't use gapless. As usual - always remember to reset the FW and rebuilt your library after the flash...- Yanec

Absolutely agree with you on the settings and I also agree that the SU 1.3.3 is better than 1.3.4 and 1.3.5 but as they were more harsh on the highs some users found them "more detailed" this is common impression given more extended highs. That is why I recommended to give these a try in the...- Yanec

Regarding the BB - I am sure it has positive effect on the highs too - although more detailed it is much less prone to sibilance as far as I know. Regarding detail and SU 1.3.3. - Try 1.3.4 or 1.3.5 and as I always recommend - try my favorite SU EX- Yanec

There are different components/libraries involved in three different scenarios: 1. FLAC only - this means that a minimum amount of additional libraries are used in order to eliminate their negative effect on the sonic characteristics. Only FLAC format files are supported other lossless formats...- Yanec

I guess we can make a small discussion on Sound Unlock proprietary settings menu and thus make it easier for most users to choose a starting point when experimenting with these settings! 1.3.5 has the most neutral and flat signature of all DX50 FW - it is my favourite. It shows a...- Yanec

Comparing it to the STX means the DX50 is really shining! What is the differences in sound signature due to in .3 vs .4 vs .5 ? What filters or libraries did you remove/modify and what was their effect? Last version means that nothing more can be done to improve the sound even further...- Yanec
