I've narrowed down a list of monitors. Can anybody give me some input?
Alright! So I got the JBL LSR305s. I love them to death already. I am using an XLR to 3.5mm cable to connect the speaker to my computer. It was 300 for the pair, and 16 bucks for the cable. After tax about 345-350 bucks. These monitors are fantastic, and they took up less room than I though...- Kalixin

I've narrowed down a list of monitors. Can anybody give me some input?
I guess I was just confused because the JBLs only have one 1/4 inch plug in, and that cable has two 1/4 inch ends.- Kalixin

An audio interface box. Probably will cost quite a bit more than I was looking at. Hmm. How much sound degradation are we talking about if I use the RCA to 6.3mm, as opposed to the interface?- Kalixin

I've narrowed down a list of monitors. Can anybody give me some input?
Is there anyway I can keep the balanced nature of the speakers if I connect it to my computer? What would I lose if it wasn't balanced? also -- Yeah, I think thats what the HOSA cable is for, for the 6.3 to RCA...- Kalixin

Do the JBL LSR305s have that RCA hookup? I thought they only had the two 6.3mm plugs - the thicker plugs. None of these DACs have hat hookup, I don't think.- Kalixin

Headphone amps, Monitors, and connections... I need some help please
Honestly, more than anything - I just want my music to sound better. The recording/mixing is secondary, and my headphones handle it relatively well already. The JBLs only have a 6.3mm jack on them. My computer has a 3.5 and a toslink. Do those 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapters work? I would think they...- Kalixin

I've narrowed down a list of monitors. Can anybody give me some input?
what are the FIIO E09K and E17 used for exactly? How is it better than a sound card? I have some ATH-m50s (headphones) and they sound rather weak on my ipod and iphone. Would you suggestion help for those as well - is it portable, or just for computer? Also- thanks for the cable! I found...- Kalixin

Headphone amps, Monitors, and connections... I need some help please
I am mostly using my desktop, ipod, and iphone for listening to music. I rarely ever use my laptop. I am definitely going with the JBL LSR305s. I don't think they have a way of hooking up to my computer easily, though. They have the larger prongs, and I have only toslink and basic axillary...- Kalixin

Hey everyone! I have used head-fi for awhile and I fully put a lot of trust in you guys, so here comes a few questions 1.) I have a pair of audio technica ath-m50s...... They sound fantastic on my computer because it can drive a ton of power to them; however, on my little ipod or phone...- Kalixin

Believe it or not, I went to a local guitar center about a week ago ( I just remembered this thread today)....My heart has been set on the JBL LSR305s ever since. They absolutely destroy any of the 200-250 dollar pairs I heard to such an extent, that I am buying them The extra 50-100 dollars...- Kalixin

I am looking for a decent set of speakers that have a good high and mid range. Bass isnt extremely important but would be nice. I have logitech x-140s, and i have bose companion 2. I also have some audio technica athm50s. Logitechs are good for 30 bucks, but they are tinny, naturally.Or...- Kalixin

Incredible Deal. Klipsch m40s. Worth it?
My ath m50s are normally 160 at guitar center. they price matched an online store for 107... I dont think I can beat my M50s. For such a low price. I think I need an amp for them though. they seem to sound kind of weak on my ipod, and distorted. They sound 100% better on my computer.- Kalixin

Looking to buy new noise cancelling headphones for around $100.
Any other brands have a bit less bass and a bit more highs and mids? Like i said, sennheiser didnt impress me. Klipsch are decent. ableplanet was terrible. bose is overpriced. audio technic I am willing to give a thought to. I can go up to like 130-140 on price range- Kalixin

Looking to buy new noise cancelling headphones for around $100.
Yeah. I do not want the degrading value of cancellation toward my music. So.... any more recommendations on actual headsets???? I heard a bunch of sennheiser demos ant best buy. The bass had like no punch but the highs and mids were really good. Pioneer was soso. Any more...- Kalixin
