I had a chance to audition the Stax SR 507 and SR 407 at the Munich High End Show. What do you think about them? I really
Liked the sound; perhaps even more than the SR 009. You really can't beat the price of these either. I bought a pair of each and am awaiting delivery. Sorry that I have been away from Headfi for a while. Nice to be back.- Scottsmrnyc

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
4N6- Well I will bet there is a McIntosh formula that would sound better that the MHA 100. I must admit that I have only tried the MHA 100 system once with the McIntosh headphones and I thought the sound was good but not excellent. If you think that the total system-amp and headphones are well...- Scottsmrnyc

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Just checking in to say hi to the contributors of this thread. Has anyone thought of a McIntosh alternative to buying the new McIntosh MHA 100 Headphone amp. Maybe a pair of MC 501s and then a nice McIntosh preamp with a heaphone output would sound pretty nice and for a lot less money. Are there...- Scottsmrnyc

Just a little curious- Is there an adapter connector that I could use to connect a Koss ESP 9 Headphone into a Stax amplifier? I just bought a used
I Think I am just going to buy a cheap speaker amp on ebay to use with my new Stax ESP 9s. This would be a simpler solution. Thanks for your advice.- Scottsmrnyc

Vintage Stax repair and maintenance
I own a number of Stax Sigmas. About two years ago, two of my Sigma Pros died on me. It seems that you can't mix vintage Stax headphones with new Stax amplifiers, You also should come to the realization that if you are using vintage Stax headphones, it might not be wise to crank the volume...- Scottsmrnyc

New HD 800 very different than the old HD 800
Perhaps you can get a better sound on both the new and old HD 800s by tweeking other parts of the signal line- ie cables- cd quality- amplifiers. I can't understand how someone can say that the old HD 800s have no bass. My old pair of HD 800s are just fine in the bass department. I will bet...- Scottsmrnyc

Stax Sigma - how many owners are left out there?
I have a number of Stax Sigmas both pro and non pro. I have one Sigma Pro and four Sigma non Pros. I used to have two more Sigma Pro's but my amp ate them up. I love listening to my Sigma non pros with my SRA 12S. I- Scottsmrnyc

Stax Sigma - how many owners are left out there?
YOU CAN'T MIX PRO AND NON PRO OUTLETS. YOU MUST USE SIGMA SIX PIN TO STAX SIX PIN AMP AND YOU MUST USE SIGMA PRO FIVE PIN WITH A STAX PRO AMP WHICH HAS FIVE PINS. IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL DAMAGE EVERYTHING.- Scottsmrnyc

Stax Sigma - how many owners are left out there?
My broken pairs of Sigma Pros are in non working condition. Additionally, each earspeaker is detached from it's cable as is the cable that is attached to the amplifier. It is pure junk. It seems as though you can not attach a vintage pair of Stax Pro headphones to a Stax Pro Amplifier such as...- Scottsmrnyc

Stax Sigma - how many owners are left out there?
With the Stax SRA 12S Amp- The non pros are deeper, smoother, and clearer. The Stax Sigma Pros have a higher bias so therefore the highs are accentuated which has very little value to me and probably others. The Stax Sigma non pros have a lower bias which accentuates the Bass. I have both Pro...- Scottsmrnyc

Stax Sigma - how many owners are left out there?
Well, I also had two pair of Sigma pros that have broken; so I didn't include those in my count. The Sigma non pros go really well with a vintage SRA-12S amp; not one that has been modified. I started a Headfi-Stax Sigma tribute thread about four years ago. I think that under the right...- Scottsmrnyc
