Though seem to reduce the height or the measured orthowall more so than most pads(Vegan included), I just don't like what they do to the HF.- MrTie84

@Tullebukk I have had the older cowhide and Pleather ZMF pads for testing, and they actually are a closer fit to the stock pad than the vegan which is a little TOO large. I didn't find either of them really worth using though. ZMF Cowhide and stock damping. ZMF Pleather and stock damping.- MrTie84

Mostly 2.5mm connectors instead of mmcx, they slapped more stain/sealant on the wood, included a garbage 1/4th adapter.- MrTie84

+1 to this, Audeze knew what it was doing using an adhesive ring to give such a good seal to their pads. I literally didn't even use the rings on my Hifiman cans in the past because they just sound better with an adhesive seal.- MrTie84

Orthowalls typically are not audible, I don't actually think the visible orthowall on the measurement is what we are annoyed by I think it's the HUGE spike right before it. Paper towel will not fix this, it's a problem with the stock pad design if you take a look at the response of only changing...- MrTie84

Quick correction @macky112 , the Angled Pleather HM5 does not smooth out the treble much without more damping than stock. What I found in listening was that seems promising to me is more impact bass and a sense of liveliness in the treble. Which may to due to better sealing and internal...- MrTie84

I appreciate the offer, but yeah they aren't exactly usable without surgery for anyone so I don't think they are going to end up a useful choice. I have a Audeze Leather, along side Pleather and Cowhide ZMF pads incoming from a friend and will update when I can measure I may order a pair or two...- MrTie84

I did not realize the Focuspad/A ring was glued into the pad, so I guess I can forget that, I'm not dropping $40 and trimming the tabs to make them useless for resale on an experimental hunch.- MrTie84

That makes sense, I really like the bit of liveliness these add, which makes me all the more curious about the Hybrids/focuspads and how they would measure. Sad my local friend recently sold his HE-560 or I'd just burrow his pads.- MrTie84

Yeah, I had no real plans for the pleather HM5 just happened to have it laying around. I don't know if it's my mic or the more sealed nature of the pleather but bass impact is noticeably more subjectively on the same tracks, even if I'm not showing it on the measurement , IDK it's weird. It does...- MrTie84

I'm actually really curious how the Hybrid angled HM5 might measure also Focuspad/Focuspad A. I'm digging the sound I'm getting currently but pleather against skin is no bueno for me long term Velour/Microsude/Vegan is for ever comfort king for my little babysoft face.- MrTie84

To echo Cskippy and TheAngelBoy, the "ringing" on CSD/Waterfall is a measurement artifact related to the tension of a Planar Diaphragm(go ahead and look at any CSD of a planar and you'll find one, severity will vary), it's most likely NOT audible. However the dip & Peak directly preceding it IS...- MrTie84

I am using a Hifiman ring with the tabs pointed into the HM5 to give it a rounder shape and stiffen up the pad. It's just a tiny bit too small to cover the entire cup.- MrTie84

I'm actually really enjoying the HM5 pleather pad ATM which has surprised me, it's doing a couple things I cannot fully explain when looking at the measurements, I think there is some benefit to the slightly more restrictive ear cavity. I figured it would mostly behave like the stock pad given...- MrTie84
