Oriolus Traillii Electrostatic Hybrid IEM discussion thread
I definitely shared the fear initially. I think some of it has to do with the fact that there are so many hyped new IEMs that dropped at the same time. Plus, many of them scratched an itch that folks had been asking for for a while (in audiophile IEM terms, like a year, lol). An Ely with DD...- uthood

Okay, so I've spent 30 minutes rapidly swapping from Thummim to Homonculus to Erlkonig to Traillii. Zero comment on how they sound at this point, but one thing is for sure: the Traillii fits my ears REALLY well. The Traillii is super light in comparison (not a surprise given the materials used).- uthood

Very fortunate that the Audio Tiers tour timing worked out in my favor. The Thummim/Homonculus kit AND the Erlkonig kit happened to show up at my door at the same time! Looking forward to comparing all three to the Traillii this weekend!- uthood

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
Oh boy, I think the only thing that might draw any consideration from me away from the Traillii would be the Ely with DD bass (at least that's what I thought back in March of this year, remember posting it somewhere in the 64 Audio thread after I had the Ely on tour). If I'm honest, the design...- uthood

Edit: Oops, just realized your comment wasn’t a reply to me. (my comment) Wasn’t aimed at you, or anyone in particular. I’m always happy when people find something they love to listen to! I couldn’t agree more with the above. I’m not trying to start a subjectivist versus objectivist debate, but I’ll say this anyway: it’s all based on preference. Full stop. It’s similar, to me, when people say “the goal is to reproduce music as close to what the artist intended”. First, how can...- uthood

I’m a filthy fence sitter, too. What I also know is that when I’ve cable swapped, I don’t hear differences that I can hear consistently…and I count myself lucky for that…no desire on my end to go down that rabbit hole. Kudos to others who hear the differences and enjoy cable rolling!- uthood

I’d second this. It’s amazing for edm. The only unicorn I could imagine replacing the Traillii would be the Trailli sound signature with DD bass, boosted slightly, without (magically) impacting the rest of the frequency response.- uthood

I had a set of Utopia for a couple years. They’re easy to drive and sounded amazing out of most stuff I had (RME ADI2 and a bunch of DAPs). I sold the Utopia to fund the Trailli and haven’t regretted it. That being said, portability is a factor for me, so that plays in for sure. Maybe I’m an...- uthood

Just got a Campfire Audio mesh bag. It works way more effectively than the red one included. Good news is that I can still use it to keep the W2 and the 2.5 to 4.4 adapter separate, also fits the USB adapter for the W2 and a set of extra tips. Much more effective use of the space. Pretty happy...- uthood

Very off topic, but for those of you with a W2, what gain and volume are you listening on the Traillii? I feel like I need to go a bit higher with it than normal to really get it going. High gain, volume 50 is about where it starts to click for me.- uthood

I did some testing on Friday, comparing the Traillii with an A&K SE200 and an L&P W2 I just picked up. I’d hoped the W2 would be good enough for me to go totally portable and sell the SE200. The W2 sounds great, but there’s a noticeable difference with the SE200. Across the board I found the...- uthood

I spent a few solid hours last night really giving things a listen (second time with them). I said it after the first listen, it really does feel like I'm inside the music, don't know how better to describe it. Also curious about the Utopia comparison, though I'm just being impatient at this point, hah! If it's on par with Utopia for detail, imaging, layering, and soundstage, but has a tad more bass (maybe just because it's sealed) then I'll be a happy camper.- uthood
