AKG K361/K371
I found a smaller case. The Geekria UltraShell on Amazon is just the right size for them when they are folded up.- cel4145

AKG K361/K371
Did you ever have any luck finding a good compact case for when the K361/K371 are folded up? I'm getting ready to go on a month-long trip, and I'd like them in as smaller case as possible in my backpack.- cel4145

Just to note that harmonic distortion is not the only bass distortion. Sundara and Ananda's sub bass group delay was off the charts in ASR's review.- cel4145

Ummm....no...that is not necessarily reality. There are factors for which a more powerful amp might be necessary. But seems like all the people saying "yes they need a more powerful amp" are not considering when that would be. Heck, one of them saying the Atom is not powerful enough didn't...- cel4145

The E17 is it pretty old model. It could be related to power output. I think Fiio rated at 200mw at 32 ohms. But it could be a current limited amp and perform worse at lower impedance. And it could be it has some audible noise and distortion, which the DX3 Pro+ does not have.- cel4145

There's a lot of snake oil in this hobby. And one of the myths is that more power is always better. If a headphone can reach your preferred listening volume, such that dynamic peaks are not distorted, then additional power doesn't do anything. If you were not getting enough power such that...- cel4145

Unless Hifiman is grossly exaggerating how sensitive they are, that is nonsense. The Atom will easily power them louder than you will want to listen.- cel4145

You forgot to mention "properly volume leveled." Most DAC units tend to differ from each other slightly in voltage output. So two DACs which should sound the same, will sound different if simply switched back and forth between a headphone amp, if they haven't been volume leveled.- cel4145

At 92db/mw into 18 ohms, they need approximately 1V to reach 110db. The DX3 Pro + can generate over 2V into 16 ohm before going into protection. So unless someone is planning on boosting the bass a lot and listening very loud, the DX3 Pro+ will be fine.- cel4145

I am aware of what its needs are. And that's not accurate. It actually doesn't need a lot of voltage. It needs current. Use the headphone power calculator. We can't really talk about this while you are still guessing (incorrectly) what the needs of the headphone are. And yes. I currently own 3...- cel4145

You aren't comparing like headphones. These are 12.5 ohms. The R5 Saber can put out 1040mW per channel into 16Ω using the balanced output. This headphone power calculator is useful for determining how much power you might need https://www.headphonesty.com/headphone-power-calculator/- cel4145

Yes. I understand the principle of current and planars. There is a limit to how much current one needs to properly power headphones to the user's listening volume and properly render dynamic peaks. It's math. But once again, if you want to believe that, then get yourself a 100watt speaker amp...- cel4145

92db/mw into 18 ohms is 64mw to reach 110db https://www.headphonesty.com/headphone-power-calculator/ For example, I have some "power hungry planars" the DCA Aeon Closed X, which are 91db into 12.5 ohms, and the K5 Pro would easily drive them louder than I would want to listen.- cel4145
