The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
I'm curious about the 250 ohm version but don't really feel the need to get it since I am more than happy with the 80 ohm version. I also only have an Essence STX and an mp3 player and I don't think they would be good enough for the 250 ohm version. Has anyone compared the HD598 to the DT250...- JayB18

Closed All Arounders
I'd recommend the Beyerdynamic DT250 if looking for something easier to drive and more balanced than the DT770. The Shures are good too.- JayB18

Is there anything better then the AT M50's?
The M50s don't lack bass. Its boosted over all the other frequencies so saying you don't want to get used to the lack of bass means to me you want something really bassy. The sony xb500/700 or q40 get recommended here for that. Personally more bass isn't indicative of better sound quality but...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
Quote: The graphs make me want to try the 250 ohm version but I do not have an amp which is why I went with the 80 ohm version when I bought it. I kind of agree the DT440 are a bit bright but I still like them more then the MS-1, HD555 and AD700 so they are my open can of choice at the...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
The graphs look very similar on the 80 ohm and 250 are very close overall minus the slight midbass hump below 500hz and slightly rolled off treble somewhere above 10,000hz. 500hz to 10000hz is very close. I wonder how much of the difference in graphs has to do with positioning and the amp they...- JayB18

under $200 headphones for home listening that fall between AD700s and HD-25 II
Beyerdynamic DT 440. Nice wide open spacious sound but with noticeably better bass impact and extension than the AD700 and more treble energy then the Sennheisers.. Mids are also more forward. Soundstage is smaller overall but separation and individual instrument separation is better. Only...- JayB18

Best home headphones sub 200$
Id say DT440 in open or DT250 80 ohm in closed. Probably the DT440 overall since I think open sound better.- JayB18

Headphones for gaming and music under $150?
Beyerdyamic DT440. They have better bass impact extension than the AD700 as well as much better soundstage than the MS-1 and pretty much any closed phone you can find in the price. HD555/558/595/598 might work too but I prefer the DT440 over the HD555.- JayB18

Ad700 or Superlux 668b
The AD700 does have a good sounstage and a nice clear airy sound and nice sparkle but there is absolutely no midbass hump and it starts to roll off a lot around 80Hz so it isn't a headphone to get if you want a "fun" pair of phones. If thats what you looking for then you should enjoy them. If...- JayB18

Quote: He said he would prefer open phones. Open, easy to drive, decent bass for hip hop, $100-$150= Beyerdynamic DT440. They have been called the groovalizers due to their good PRaT factor. Unfortunately they have really ever caught on here for some reason though they are highly...- JayB18

Need beginner headphones for $60-$100
Open: Alessandro MS-1 Audio Technica AD700 (bass is on the weak side with these though they still work as all purpose headphones imo unless listening to rap/hip hop/DnB) Beyerdynamic DT440 if you can find it for close to $100. Sennheiser HD555/558 (doesn't sound as good as the other 3...- JayB18

Ad700 or Hd555 or other?
Quote: They are better balanced and more detailed. Bass is better extended as well as faster, tighter and more detailed. Impact and volume are similar. Midrange and treble are a bit more laid back but not necessarily recessed or distant/dark sounding. Soundstage and separation are better...- JayB18

Ad700 or Hd555 or other?
MS-1 or DT440 (both of which are more suitable for the music you listed) if you want open phones, which in my opinion are preferable to closed phones unless you absolutely need isolation. Out of the 2 the DT440 sounds better (actually its better than the AD700, HD555, and MS1). If you want...- JayB18

Good $200 Headphones with no sound leaking?
Shure SRH940. The Beyerdynamic DT250 is great too but probably a bit too much like the Sennheiser sound for you. Just don't go in expecting great soundstage from a closed phone or the spacious open sound because your not going to get it. Some closed phones are better than others at it though.- JayB18

Audio-Technica ATH AD700 vs Sennheiser PC360 Headset
Quote: If spending that much you might be better off with the DT440 or HD598. I haven't seen much on the PC360 at all so I really couldn't say. Quote: I'll agree about he M50 not being great (though I don't like closed phones in general) but I personally like the...- JayB18

Need help on picking the right Headphones within $100~200 price range.
You can also look into the Beyerdynamic DT440. They aren't talked about much here unfortunately but they easily keep up with more expensive phones and some even say they sound superior to the HD598. Also you can generally find them for quite a bit cheaper.- JayB18

Audio-Technica ATH AD700 vs Sennheiser PC360 Headset
I really have no idea how the PC360 would sound but the AD700 is very comfortable (unless you have a small head) and has great overall sound quality for music. Sound quality won't matter as much for games or movies unless they contain a lot of music in them though having a large soundstage like...- JayB18
