With the magnet system, it only takes a few seconds to swap the pads. It only took me one or two songs to realize I definitely preferred the hybrid pads. They would be perfect for me if they were just a little bit thicker, as I am blessed with large ears as well.

Makes sense, adding hybrid options on top of the Thin, Thick, and Cowhide options would definitely start to complicate things. That being said, we ZMF fans don't really shy away from having too many options on our headphones!

I heartily recommend the Quicksilver Headphone Amp. It’s right there at the top of your price range, but it’s been an excellent pairing with every ZMF I’ve owned (Aeolus, VC, Auteur) as well as my Meze Elite.

According to Wes, the best sounding varieties are the welded plates. There were two versions with welded plates, the oldest have foil O getters and the ones after that came with solid foil getters. I’ve only tried the welded plate O getter type and agree with Wes, they do sound excellent.
