Some very impressive sounding IEMs that I've tried in CanJam Sgp today: BGVP DM8 - Relatively balanced with slight warmness, very nice mids, super engaging. Elysian DIVA - Impressive tuning with 3 level tunable bass level. the mid bass level sounds good for me. Balanced with good spaciousness...- earfonia

What are the benefit of Balance?
Balanced interconnections for Pro Audio is not to be mixed up with headphone's balanced connection. The purpose are different. Balanced interconnections in pro audio is to improve noise and interference rejection over long distance connections. Balanced connection for headphone is to double...- earfonia

Good review! Thank you! My Legacy 2 is on the way. Does the overall tuning is close to 'neutral' for you?- earfonia

circular chain testing possible?
No, I mean the calibration / tuning will only work for each specific model. So in practical not an easy way to compare headphone sound and the HATS recording.- earfonia

circular chain testing possible?
We usually called the head shaped microphones as HATS (Head and Torso Simulator). The challenge is probably the difference resonance frequency of the ear canal, between opened and closed ear canal. Opened ear canal during recording will have 1/4 lambda resonance, while when the ear canal is...- earfonia

WAV change in codec?
Have you tried to compare the flac and wav files using null test? You can use freeware like DeltaWave: https://deltaw.org/ If there is any difference it will show in the report.- earfonia

Symphonium Helios impression thread
Exactly my thought as well. I would prefer for the 250Hz recessed area to be around 1.5-2.0 dB boosted to improve the mid-bass and lower-mids. For that I created an EQ profile for Helios on Equalizer APO (Windows) to fix that area and to match it to my EITC-2021 target curve. I would...- earfonia

Does Harman Target Response Curve matter?
IMHO: Yes, but not exactly. Seems I'm a bit late, thread started in August 2021. Most of my favorite IEMs that sound more or less 'neutralish' to my ears are pretty close to HT IE 2019. But when I measured them there is always disagreement on the treble area between 5kHz to 10kHz. HT seems to...- earfonia

How to describe the sound of a earphone?
I have a few suggestions: 1. First describe the naturalness of the tonal balance that you hear by describing the perceived frequency response. Stick to simple technical terms like more or less bass (or treble). 2. Use a popular reference IEM for comparisons. For example the $5 Sony MH755 (try...- earfonia

I guess what important and what less important are still in learning process. What I'm interested to do now is to learn how to relate / interpret measurement to what I hear. How important are those parameters that we measure, we will probably have better understanding about it later. All in...- earfonia

Audio Measurements on a Headfi Budget
I will share with you some measurement. No it is not that bad. It is consistently higher than the ICP based coupler, probably around 0.5% - 1.0% higher. I haven't really calculate the difference. When I have time this week or next I will share some measurement comparison.- earfonia

Audio Measurements on a Headfi Budget
I agree with you. Measurement results alone is not meaningful and can actually be bad data (misleading info) without those details like measurement equipment, setup, and methodology. Especially the methodology, it is not all specified in international standards like: IEC 60268-7...- earfonia

Probably similar. It was disappointing for him because the mic was glued to the coupler and was not removable. But if someone simply want a ready to use 711 coupler + mic, it is probably good enough.- earfonia
